  The chairman of the Nigeria Labor Congress in Oyo state, Comrade Kayode Martins, has called on the state Governor to urgently come to the rescue of helpless residents who are at the mercy of land-grabbers.   The lives of millions of poor Nigerians have continued to deteriorate without reprieve as a result of the people-unfriendly policies of the present administrations at the center and in the states. This view was expressed by a former chairman of the Oyo state council of the Trade Union Congress(TUC), Comrade Andrew Emelieze. ''The removal of the fuel subsidy by the government at the onset of this dispensation has brought about hunger and hardships for millions of poor Nigerians. The government increased electricity tariffs when millions of Nigerians are still paying for darkness. Presently the Premium Motor Spirit is in short supply and Nigerians are passing through heart-rendering experiences to make ends meet, while certain individuals in the labor unions are busy feathering their own nests. The government at all levels have devalued the lives of Nigerians.  The present situation is a bad omen for the government,'' Comrade Emelieze stated.

When seeking justice and righteousness, we should act correctly towards the needy and oppressed. Outward ceremonials of religion cannot cover up for transgressions. Girls in Nigeria have numerous challenges to contend with.  Poverty, peer pressure, early marriage, unwanted pregnancy, negligence, rape, ignorance, lack of parental care.  The list is endless. Even though leaders at all levels have made noticeable efforts to give girls a future, a lot still has to be done, in terms of guidance, legislation, interventions, funding and monitoring.   The way the leaders of some nations have set for themselves is indeed a path to destruction. The future seems bleak because the rich and powerful are becoming more prosperous and pretend not to realize that they have attained their positions by unjust means.  They are guilty. God is desirous for them to live, on the condition that they change their ways and seek justice. Their social immorality and injustice are the barriers between themselves and their creator.
