Aleshinloye Market Fire-Government should equip fire service to function optimally-Chief Obi
The Onyendu Ndigbo of Ibadan and Oyo State, High Chief Alloy Obi, has called on the government to adequately equip the fire service to function effectively. In the early hours of Wednesday, a fire gutted a section of the Aleshinloye market in Ibadan, Nigeria. 'It is regrettable that the fire incident occurred in this period of economic hardships. The government should equip the fire service to function optimally; it takes a long time for the fire service to respond to distress calls. The traders should not lose hope but keep on making efforts to make their lives better. I pray that the almighty God will console the traders; some borrowed money, some collected goods on credit, and this happened; it is unfortunate. Lawmakers in both chambers of the National Assembly and the State Houses of Assembly have long ceased to represent the electorate in Nigeria. Oyo Government not taking our welfare seriously-Health Workers
Some health workers in Oyo state have expressed reservations over the continued delay of the state government to meet their demands. The health workers, who are members of the Nigeria Union of Allied Health Professionals(NUAHP), Hospital Management Board unit, lamented that the state government ''is not taking our welfare seriously.'' ''The state government has continued to treat health workers on its payroll with levity. We are not happy about this, the government should urgently address our demands, they stated.
