A syndicate that specializes in the stealing of electric service wires from residential buildings now operates in Ibadan, Nigeria. The criminal group comprising some unscrupulous elements in the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) co-opted financially indisposed individuals to give out vital information that would be of mutual benefit. On Tuesday, 17 December, 2024, between 2:45 pm and 3:10 pm in the afternoon, a marketer and a technician, both workers of the IBEDC, stole the four service wires that supply electricity to the four apartments at No. 3 Kehinde Aderibigbe Street, Olorunsogo, Molete. Government has devalued the lives of poor Nigerians

Paul Craig Roberts Quote: “Tariffs protect ill-considered government policies, such as costly regulations and high taxes on labor and capital that ...”

The lives of millions of poor Nigerians have continued to deteriorate without reprieve as a result of the people-unfriendly policies of the present administrations at the center and in the states.

This view was expressed by a former chairman of the Oyo state council of the Trade Union Congress(TUC), Comrade Andrew Emelieze.

''The removal of the fuel subsidy by the government at the onset of this dispensation has brought about hunger and hardships for millions of poor Nigerians. The government increased electricity tariffs when millions of Nigerians are still paying for darkness. Presently the Premium Motor Spirit is in short supply and Nigerians are passing through heart-rendering experiences to make ends meet, while certain individuals in the labor unions are busy feathering their own nests. The government at all levels have devalued the lives of Nigerians.  The present situation is a bad omen for the government,'' Comrade Emelieze stated.
