Federal Workers warn on the Non-Payment of outstanding wage Award

  Federal workers who are yet to receive four months of the Federal Government's announced wage award have warned that it could affect productivity. The workers expressed reservations over the hardships and difficulties they were experiencing as a result of the non-payment of the arrears of the wage award. ''To start with, the Nigeria Labor Congress and the Trade Union Congress are dead in Nigeria, it is not possible to have functional unions, while workers are being subjected to such horrible  conditions of living because they do not have money. If the government is reluctant to clear the outstanding wage award, this could take its toll on the productivity of the workers. There is a saying that to whom much is given, much is expected, but in this instance nothing has been given. What do you expect?'' they asked.

Workers yet to receive September Salaries-Federal Workers Forum

The Federal workers forum has expressed reservations over the delay in the payment of the September salaries of public and civil servants in Nigeria. The forum in a press statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Andrew Emelieze, also stated that the Federal Government ought to be very sensitive to the difficulties and hardships Nigerians are passing through. ''Workers in the Ministries, Departments and Agencies are yet to receive their September salaries i the middle of difficulties, hardships and tales of woes. The Federal Government is supposed to be sensitive to the plight of Nigerians and wear a human face.', the statement concluded.

Hardships-Govt should do the needful for workers-Prophet Arabambi

The 30,000 national minimum wage for workers in Nigeria has been described as the impetus for corruption. This assertion was made by the General Envangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church(CAC)Worldwide(Reformation Land,Ile Atunse, Prohphet Timothy Abass Arabambi. ''We are always preaching that corruption should be eradicated. How is this possible? When the least paid worker earns 30,000 Naira, how can such a worker cope? He or she has to have transportation, feeding and school fees to provide for. How can such a person cope in the face of stressful economic hardships? The government should do the needful,'' Prophet Arabambi stated. He also advised the Federal Government and members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) to amicably resolve the impasse for the benefit of the helpless students, saying, ''there is an adage that says that children that parents fail to educate would sell the homes of such parents.
