WAEC Exams Forms for the Indigent

The national office of the West African Examinations Council(WAEC) has announced the commencement of the sale of its examination forms for private candidates in Nigeria. The forms cost N27,500, bank charges inclusive. Parents and guardians are not only confused, but also worried about how to access the funds to obtain the forms for their children and wards. The government at all levels are presently focused on the expenditure in view for the education sector with regard to this year's budgetary allocation. Sadly, the discussion is not on how indigent students will access funds to pay for the examination forms. Nigerians are of the belief that those in government are yet to make any convincing impact on the education sector. This argument is given flesh by the large number of pupils, students and others at all levels of education, who have dropped out as a result of financial challenges. Lawmakers in both chambers of the National Assembly and the State Houses of Assembly have long ceased to represent the electorate in Nigeria. Oyo Government not taking our welfare seriously-Health Workers
Some health workers in Oyo state have expressed reservations over the continued delay of the state government to meet their demands. The health workers, who are members of the Nigeria Union of Allied Health Professionals(NUAHP), Hospital Management Board unit, lamented that the state government ''is not taking our welfare seriously.'' ''The state government has continued to treat health workers on its payroll with levity. We are not happy about this, the government should urgently address our demands, they stated. However, the chairman of the unit, Comrade Olanrewaju Ajani disclosed that of all the demands of the health workers, the state government had only reviewed the hazard allowance.
