Mao Zedong popularly known as Chairman Mao, was successful with his noble goals for China through despotic means.

His leadership was severe, dictatorial and personalized.

For as long as Chairman Mao's  cultural revolution lasted, thousands of Chinese died of starvation and inhuman labor.

Mao and his co-travelers argued that same was the price their people had to pay  for re-education.

This brand of governance ensured the extermination of the heroes of the civil war and the old party chieftains by the President's armed squad.

Indeed, the former Kaduna state Governor, Mallam Nasir El Rufai is among several other political office holders, who adored the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Those in support of this argument insist that on a number of occasions, the  former Kaduna state Governor had knelt down to greet and/or consult with the former President. 

They maintain that this was only a sign of respect in the traditional African setting.

Nigerians are yet to stop complaining of constitutional breaches and the unabated trampling of the rule of law in the dust, without noticeable changes by the powers that be.

From recent events in the country, the economic reform programs of the All Progressives  Congress(APC) led government at the center and  in the states, are modeled along the thinking of a free market economy.

It is doubtful, if government, in the last three years, has managed the economy for the benefit of Nigerians.

Of worry is the state of manufacturing industries, which could be said to be epileptic, even as food security is a  mirage, insecurity is the chorus everywhere, while crude oil remains the major hope of the present administration.

Interestingly, the future growth of the Nigerian economy  rests comfortably on diversification and focus on  visionary and creative people friendly economic policies, although government still over-rely and over-depends on crude oil to fund its programs.

Can the present administration turn around the troubled economy ? Nobody knows.

The activities of terrorists in Nigeria which has resulted in the loss of thousands of lives 

Between 1976 and 1983 millions of citizens lost their lives in Argentina. 

Death squads operating under secret circumstance and the cover of the state murdered about 11, 000 people, which are now described as ''The Disappeared''.

Two million people escaped persecution, while hundreds of babies born to ''The Disappeared'', were either sold, bartered or murdered.

Indeed, happenings in several states of Nigeria, including Benue, Taraba, Plateau, Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa and Kaduna, indicate that government is fully aware of the insecurity, even as the killings continue. 

This calls for concern.

Political pundits put the blame at the doorstep of the present administration.

Nigerians are worried that the government has done nothing noticeable to ensure that the country does not slip into anarchy.

In 2009, the Defense Minister of Madagascar, Cecile Manorantha resigned her appointment on the grounds that she would not continue to be a part of a government that kills its people.

Also, the people of Madagascar vigorously opposed the attempts by President Marc Ravalomanana to lease one million acres of their land in the South of the country to a Korean firm, Daewoo for intensive farming/ The people have deep ties with their land and consequently view the President's action as a betrayal.

The same scenario is playing out in Nigeria.

The insecurity in the land has made foreign investment impossible, while the disenfranchised and poor majority look in the gloomy future for reprieve.

Insecurity: Do away with sins-Prophet Arabambi to Nigerians

 The security situation in the Federal Republic of Nigeria has become a source oof sleepless nights for millions of Nigerians. In this message, Prophet Timothy Arabambi of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) (Reformation Land) Ile-Atunshe, Ibadan, Nigeria, advises Nigerians to pray to God to heal the nation.

What is your message to Nigerians, as the present situation assumes a frightening dimension?

I have a firm belief in the efficacy of prayers. I believe Jesus Christ is going to take control of the security and economic situation.

The two are very worrisome.

But do not forget that it is not only Nigeria that is experiencing security challenges, almost every country in the world has one challenge or the other because it is one of the end time signs.

In the Bible, Jesus Christ said that we will hear of rumors of war and you cannot even talk of.

If we do away from sin and we call on our Lord, Jesus Christ, He will heal the land.

It is written in the Bible that we have suffered a lot because we did not put everything into prayers. Let us pray ceaselessly.

The Vital Weapon

In the face of faulty policies and the reversal of actions considered to be outside leadership principles,

those-in-charge now rely on deceit as the most vital weapon of governance.

This is not only regrettable, but unfortunate, considering the millions of Nigerians that have been negatively affected by absolute lies, half-truths and cover-ups in these perilous times.

Interestingly, public office holders are adamant, they have continued to insist that the situation is not helpless contrary to happenings on a daily basis.

Without doubt the multifarious challenges could be traced to the fault infested occupiers of the public offices at all levels.

Indeed, the leadership at all levels ought to go to the streets for a firsthand assessment of their acts of omission and commission.

If there is any humanity in them. Perhaps.

Don't Contest for Second Term-Cleric to President

President Ahmed Tinubu has been advised not to run for a second term in office in 2027 as Nigeria President.

The President and Founder of Clear Revelation Ministry, Apostle Jeremiah Oluwarotimi Adeyeye gave this advice on Wednesday during a Press Conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Oyo state council, Ibadan, Nigeria.

''1) God's message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and also some advice to him, God a showed me that he did not finish in office, if he is lucky to finish this tenure as God revealed, he should not clamor to contest for a second term because God's word always stands. He should go back home to atone for all what he has done and seek the face of the almighty God, but if he insists on going for a second term, after luckily finishing this term, that means that what he luckily escaped in his first term in office will surely happen during the second term. God's word always stands.'' Apostle Adeyeye stated. 

Similarly, the man of God alerted the Oyo state Governor, of a mole in his administration, saying, ''Message: He needs to watch and make amends if he wants to continue been relevant in politics because God told me that he has somebody in his government that his doing contrary in his government and he has wreaked havoc. Governor Seyi Makinde needs to seek the face of God.''

In a related development, the Personal Assistant to the late Eze Ndigbo of Ibadan and Oyo state, Eze (Dr.) Alex Anozie, Mt. Sam Ulelu lamented that millions of Nigerians were passing through nightmarish economic hardships, blaming it on the very harsh policies of the present administration in the country.

''Millions of Nigerians can longer feed satisfactorily, most of them have lost their jobs. Economic hardships, starvation, kidnappings and killings are now the dividends of democracy, while lawlessness, indiscipline and all forms of criminality are now daily occurrences almost becoming a culture. However, Nigerians are looking up to God for a reprieve.''Mr. Ulelu noted.

The Search for Exemplary Leaders in Nigeria Continues

The present administration in Nigeria insists that it anchors its policies on transparency, integrity and honesty.

 Millions of Nigerians argue that this is far from the reality in public offices across the country. 

 For several years, successive administrations in the country have failed to incorporate the aforementioned into national life. 

 Rather, activities and actions have been channeled towards stagnancy, retardation and underdevelopment. 

 At the inauguration of boards and parastatals in Oyo state, on 24 June 1999, the then-Governor of Oyo state, Alhaji Lam Adesina, of blessed memory, stated : ”We take our time in ensuring that men and women of integrity and probity are chosen among innumerably qualified men and women. "We don’t like being proved wrong and this is why we implore you to rise up to the challenge and improve a lot in your workplace.'' ”We are very serious when we promise our people that probity and public accountability will be our watchword. Most of the areas you have been posted to are affected and already grounded by financial impropriety and squandermania. "We, as a company, have made a covenant with our people, and we shall not renege on it”, Alhaji Adesina concluded.

 Indeed, Nigerians are still wondering if the present crop of political appointees at both the Federal and State levels would make probity and public accountability their watchword, considering the rot in the system. 

 In 2009, the Day Star Christian Center organized a conference, ”Excellence in Leadership”. In attendance was the then Governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Fashola, who is now the Minister of Works and Housing. Fashola emphasized the need for Nigerians to embrace the basic values of good conduct. 

 ”By sowing for an early crop, the capacity to ‘lead’ particularly in our youth, we can guarantee this nation a harvest of exemplary leaders that our people so dearly expect and indeed deserve”. 

 Without doubt, the country is in dire need of principled and visionary leaders.

 However, the absence of people with good leadership qualities has for long served as a major impediment towards achieving developmental goals. 

 A sizable number of today's leaders at all levels of government are obviously unfit to hold such positions and, unfortunately, have become negative role models to young people. 

 But the existence of principled and visionary leaders seems to be a mirage, when confronted with the fact that most power brokers end up managing wayward children. 

 Young people in public offices now defend lawlessness and criminality, since the criminals who they look up to disrespect and disregard their elders.

 In the political scene, the Father continues to contend with issues of governance, while the Mother runs around to boost the fortunes of her pet project. 

 At the end of it all, the children grow up without parental care, with their behavior similar to that of their nannies and teachers.

 The ”World is yours” becomes their creed, while the state and its resources are at their beck and call. Indeed, transparency, integrity and honesty are not yet within reachable distance.

Cross carpeting not amnesty for wrongdoing-Oba Ladoja

A former Governor of Oyo state and the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland,  Oba Rashidi Ladoja has warned that cross carpeting from one political party to another was not a shield against corruption allegations.

Oba Ladoja gave this warning on Friday in an interaction with journalists in his Old Bodija, Ibadan, Nigeria residence.

''Moving from one political party to another is not new. Some people are doing this to protect themselves against the EFCC. However, moving  from one party to another should not be perceived as amnesty for wrong doing.'' he stated.

The former governor called on Nigerians to pray for the emergence of a government that would take care of the people, adding 2027 is still far way. Bola Tinubu has done well. Two years is still far, it just like we are playing football.''

Oba Ladoja wondered what had become of the labor movement in the country saying, '' I listened to the NLC president, Ajaero, I felt for him. He is leading a team that is neither here nor there.''

This assertion was made on Thursday by the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology in Oyo State, Prof. Salihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu, at a one-day stakeholders' engagement meeting on the implementation of the National Education Quality Assurance Policy (NEQAP) in Ibadan, Nigeria. ''What are we implementing?'' Nigeria is good at formulating policies. We formulate very good policies, and for other countries, but implementation is the problem. How are we standardizing our education policy issues? We want our children to access quality qualityeducation, there is no way they can access quality education without a good quality assurance policy,'' the commissioner stated. Prof. Adelabu noted that academic qualifications alone were not enough to become a class teacher, saying, "Having an NCE or BSc. is not enough to become a class teacher. A cultist cannot become a class teacher. Not less than five were wrongly given appointment letters; we have withdrawn them.'' Earlier in her welcome address, the director/coordinating evaluator at the Quality Assurance Department of the Federal Ministry of Education in the state, Mrs. Abimbola Odeleye, stressed the need for the active participation of all stakeholders in the sector to foster accountability. ''We should not seek shortcuts but merit-based performance. Let us ensure that the education system in Oyo State provides quality education. Let us adopt a strategy that will improve education, Mrs. Odeleye concluded. Similarly, the representative of the chairman of the State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB), the executive secretary of the board, Mrs. Ladipo, maintained that all children ought to access quality education, saying, Every child deserves quality education that will empower them to reach their full potential." Underage Cultists take over Scout Camp market Ibadan

 

Young cultists aged between 9 and 16 years have for long converted the Scout Camp Neighborhood, market, Ibadan, Nigeria to a place of refuge.

The under-aged cultists, comprising primary, secondary school students and drop-outs,  engage in  trailing and providing information on potential victims, pick-pocketing at public places, burglary in residential areas among other crimes.

The young criminals retreat to the market as a place of safety, whenever they commit crime, just as they make use of illicit substances within the precincts of the market.

Sadly, owners of  shops and open stalls at the market give moral and financial support to the young criminals, even though the state owned security network has an office in the market.

It is however, disturbing that traders and residents carry on as if all is well, while these criminals continue to commit various crimes with impunity.

Support the Poor-Oba Ladoja to Wealthy Nigerians

Former Oyo State Governor and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has charged comfortable Nigerians to continue to pray for and support the vulnerable and indigent in society. Oba Ladoja gave this charge on Sunday in an interaction with news reporters at his Old Bodija home in Ibadan, Nigeria. ''Those of us who do not know what people are passing through should use this period to not only pray for them but also assist them. Some people have been fasting before the 30-day Ramadan fast; let us continue to pray for this set of people and also support them. We should give those that do not have. We should also move away from sin; those who have moved away from sin don't go back." Oba Ladoja counseled.

Places of worship have now become destinations for all manners of people who ordinarily have no business there. Sadly, the compilicity of the 'revered' have only worsened the situation. The words of the holy book are now misinterpreted to suit satanic motives and agenda.

Syndicate steals IBEDC service wires from residence in Ibadan

A syndicate that specializes in the stealing of electric service wires from residential buildings now operates in Ibadan, Nigeria. The criminal group comprising some unscrupulous elements in the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) co-opted financially indisposed individuals to give out vital information that would be of mutual benefit. On Tuesday, 17 December, 2024, between 2:45 pm and 3:10 pm in the afternoon, a marketer and a technician, both workers of the IBEDC, stole the four service wires that supply electricity to the four apartments at No. 3 Kehinde Aderibigbe Street, Olorunsogo, Molete. Before the ugly act, the criminals had sat down and strategized at a shoemaker's shop at No. 6. The shoemaker had in turn entertained them. After the act, the criminals, who brought along a ladder, made away with the stolen items while residents of the community watched with keen interest. In recent times, cases of the theft of the DISCO's equipment and materials have become rampant.

A dehumanized mental psyche

 

Nigerians have expressed visible worries over the activities of criminals operating in commercial motorcycles, vehicles with tinted glasses, vehicles with foreign plate numbers, and vehicles without number plates.

They argue that most crimes in different parts of the country are committed through these motorcycles and vehicles and express surprise over the way the criminals beat the scrutiny of law enforcement agents along the road.

Innocent citizens who reside in Lagos, Ibadan, Benin City, Port Harcourt, Warri, Onitsha, Aba, Kaduna, Kano, and Abuja, among others, have continued to recount their tales of woe to whoever cared to listen.

Sadly, the law enforcement agents, saddled with the responsibility of ensuring law and order and the adherence to the road safety rules and regulations, have for long adopted a conspiratorial attitude, mainly because of the benefits that would accrue from aiding and abetting criminals.

Nigerians are now of the opinion that the laws of the land are either no longer functional or  those in charge and the law enforcement agencies are deliberately sabotaging the enforcement of the laws for their self-centered motives. 

A victim of the worrisome state of insecurity in Ibadan, Nigeria, who spoke incognito, reveals his experience.

‘’There is a beer parlor opposite the Iyanganku Magistrate; it is among the several shops that share the same fence with the police barracks. A door inside the beer parlor leads into the barracks. Visit the beer parlor and observe those who patronize the beer parlor, and you will agree that those who break the law have the blessing of the persons whose statutory functions include the protection of lives and property, he stated.

The general feeling is that some criminally minded law enforcement agents make use of criminals as proxies in carrying out their statutory functions, which has resulted in the harassment, intimidation, and arrest of unsuspecting citizens.

Of worry is the adopted official status of lawlessness, indiscipline, and criminality in different parts of the country.

Indeed, illiteracy and ignorance have also contributed significantly to the scheme of things as presently constituted.

The mental psyche of millions of Nigerians has been dehumanized and degraded; this has resulted in unthinkable occurrences.

These occurrences have consumed a sizable chunk of those in charge.

The widespread, uninhibited prevalence of the lawless acts, to millions of Nigerians, is an indication that there is already a failure in leadership; with no visible remedy in sight for now.

In the Interest of Digital Literacy

 In Nigeria, millions of citizens, most especially the poor and vulnerable, remain without internet access. 

For a long time, internet users have had to put up with very substandard services. 

This is as a result of inefficiency and inadequate infrastructure. 

Sadly, most of those who are fortunate to have internet access use it negatively. 

Indeed, digital literacy is a major challenge across the country and this has translated to limited internet use in most sectors of the economy.

 Youths have taken to crime due to the attitude of the leadership at all levels of government, while pornographic content has exposed minors to immoral acts.

Of worry, is the lack of funding for research and infrastructure for Information and Communication Technology(ICT) by today's leadership. 

The Backbone

The Nigerian youth involved in crime is not acting alone, some of those in positions of authority are his or her backbone. This becomes glaring when an individual takes a keen interest in unfolding events.

Sadly, the trend among leaders in most climes, is to take positions on sensitive issues without thoughtful analysis of available facts.

For as long as Chairman Mao's Cultural Revolution lasted, thousands of Chinese died of starvation and inhuman labor.

Mao and his co-travelers argued that the same was the price their people had to pay for re-education.

This brand of governance ensured the extermination of the heroes of the civil war and the old party chieftains by the President's armed squad.

Chairman Mao is perhaps the role model of those who hold sway in Nigeria today.

Indeed, the Senate President is among several other political office holders who adore President Ahmed Tinubu.

Those in support of this argument insist that the lawmaker is a regular visitor to Aso Rock for unknown reasons.

However, those against this order of things, stress that the underlying factors revolve around hypocrisy and boot licking.

Nigerians are yet to stop complaining of constitutional breaches and the unabated trampling of the rule of law in the dust, without noticeable changes by the powers that be.

From recent events in the country, the economic reform programs of the All Progressives Congress(APC) led government at the center and in the states, are modeled along the thinking of a free market economy.

It is doubtful if the government, in most recent times, has managed the economy for the benefit of Nigerians.

Of worry is the state of manufacturing industries, which could be said to be epileptic, even as food security is a mirage, insecurity is the chorus everywhere, while crude oil remains the major hope of the present administration.

Interestingly, the future growth of the Nigerian economy rests comfortably on diversification and focus on visionary and creative people-friendly economic policies, although the government still over-relies and over-depends on crude oil to fund its programs.

Can the present administration turn around the troubled economy ? Nobody knows.

Calming Frayed Nerves

 The burden of a nation is too multi-dimensional for a single power broker to manage.

There are entrenched interests in the military, security services, a section of the judiciary and also the bureaucracy, while the population at large remains distraught and impoverished.

Indeed, to inherit a badly managed and shattered economy is disturbing to those who know what is in stock aside from the high level of insecurity.

Those-in-Charge need not feign ignorance about the pressing issues at stake, but go all out to tackle the issues, even as reservations, doubts and suspicions grow among the populace by the day.

The Situation

It is now very glaring that millions of Nigerians-outside the workforce- are contending with hunger, poverty, unemployment and a number of other hardships.

This  has resulted into a sizable number the citizens embracing crime as a means to an end.

Those -in-charge are only scratching  the surface while the situation deteriorates daily.

Living with Evil

The evil deeds of some state governors are limiting factors when they involve interfacing with law enforcement agencies.

Indeed, the situation has become so bad to the extent that the people no longer trust political office holders to guarantee the safety of lives and property.

Sadly, a number of state governors are very reluctant to move against cultists who have continued to wreak havoc in the affected states.

Interaction is preferably by representation, because a lot is still hidden, that is gradually coming to light.
Indeed, the evil that men do lives with them and has become their shadows.
No responsible law-abiding and right-thinking Nigerian will subscribe to calls by some individuals to cooperate with criminals. Perhaps

Education in a Democracy

 

The future seems bleak for children and the youth in Nigeria as the cost of education at all levels goes beyond reach. 

The leadership at all levels may not be sensitive to the difficulties the citizens are passing through to meet the increasing cost of education.

Sadly, the children of these leaders are in choice schools around the globe.

Democracy ensures that citizens have access to uninhibited and quality education.

But in this case, the cost of education may not justify the service delivery in the education sector.
