 Concerned members of the Non Academic Staff Union and Associated Institutions(NASU) in the University College Hospital(UCH), Ibadan, Nigeria  have expressed their lack of confidence in the choice of the delegates mode of election in the re-scheduled elections of the union. UCH CMD raises alarm over incessant thefts in hospital

The Chief Medical Director of the University College Hospital(UCH), Ibadan, Nigeria, Prof. Jesse Otegbayo has raised the alarm over the incessant thefts within the hospital. Prof. Otegbayo made this revelation on Tuesday at a program organized by the hospital with the theme, ''PHARMACEUTICAL CARE: THE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE.'' ''There are lots of thefts going on in the hospital these days. The latest is the theft of newly installed oxygen pipes. We caught one of the security personnel of the hospital who was involved.  We are disturbed. Let us be vigilant. If you see something, say something, the CMD advises the workers.

UCH Re-absorbs Workers not paid for over three years

  Workers of the University College(UCH) Ibadan Nigeria whose salaries were stopped for over three years have been reintegrated into the hospital's payroll. Some of the workers who displayed their new appointment letters expressed joy while recounting the difficult times they had passed through because their salaries were stopped. ''We thank God that we have been re-integrated into the payroll of the UCH. We were not paid for over three years and during that period we were unable to meet our obligations to our families and relations. We thank God,'' they stated. In his reaction, the chairman of the Non Academic Staff Union and Associated Institutions(NNASU), Comrade Kehinde Abiona disclosed that the problem revolved around the non-recognition of their employment by the office of the Head of Service of the Federation. New Electricity Tariffs Suicidal-UCH NASU Chairman

  Health workers in the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Nigeria have appealed to the Federal Government to urgently intervene in the new electricity tariff plans. The health workers made this appeal through the branch chairman of the Non-Academic Staff Union and Associated Institutions(NASU), Comrade Kehinde Abiona. ''Health workers in UCH want to make an appeal to whom it may concern or those in authorities to look into the new tariff plans for electricity in government-owned health institutions which are non-profit, but to serve humanity. It is very disheartening that a socially responsible government-owned hospital such as the UCH was put on a suicidal electricity plan that can hardly be paid for, going at our rates.   The management of the University College Hospital(UCH) Ibadan, Nigeria has appealed to patients to bear with the hospital as it makes efforts to address the present electricity challenge. This appeal was made by the management through the Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Obafunmilayo Adetuyibi in a chat with New Federation. Electricity Cut-UCH Workers Further own Interests

Health professionals at the University College Hospital(UCH)Ibadan, Nigeria have taken advantage of the disconnection of the electricity in the hospital by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company(IBEDC) to further their self and pecuniary interests. However, patients in the hospital have continued to lament the difficulties and hardships they are experiencing as a result of the lack of electricity supply in the hospital for over a week now. The health professionals who own various health facilities scattered across the state capital now refer patients there. ''They are now referring us to private facilities for tests, treatment and x-ray. The costs of these facilities are very high and beyond our reach. UCH should amicably resolve the issues with IBEDC for electricity to be restored,'' the patients stated. UCH NASU Hopeful on Suspended Elections-Chairman

  The Non-Academic Staff Union and Associated Institutions(NASU) University College Hospital(UCH) Ibadan, Nigeria has expressed hopes that the suspended union elections will take place in the first quarter of the year. The union made this known through its chairman, Comrade Kehinde Abiona. ''We are very hopeful that the the suspended elections of the union will come up within the first quarter of the year'', Comrade Abiona stated. He also expressed joy at the reopening of the union's office, saying,''to God be the glory, the NASU secretariat was reopened on the 4th January 2024 after a letter of appeal dated 29th 0f December 2023 was written to the management.''

UCH Ibadan Patients lament high costs of Medical Reports

An unspecified number of patients in the University College Hospital(UCH) Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria have expressed reservations over the high cost of obtaining medical reports. The patients, who spoke incognito, lamented that they were made to part with N6,000 before they could be issued with the hospital's medical report at the records office. ''We were told that we could only be given a medical report on the payment of N6,000 in these hard times, it is beyond reach,'' they lamented. However, the hospital's reaction, the Public Relations Officer, Mrs Adetuyibi Obafunmilayo disclosed that the hospital charges N6,000 for medical reports, adding,'' The patient makes a request for a medical report, while all the tests conducted on the patient are in his or her case note.  The Minister of Health has been advised  to ensure the renovation and rehabilitation of obsolete and moribund health facilities in government-owned hospitals  across the country.
