Ibadan based lawyer threatens journalist over late father’s house in Olorunsogo, Molete, Ibadan

 An Ibadan based lawyer, one Abdulramon Adeoti has issued threats to the Editor-in-Chief , Solomon Adewunmi of the The new Federation(news2day.emyspot.com) to vacate his father’s house before the 30^th of September, 2026.

This is coming on the heels of several harassment and attacks that caused bodily injuries on the journalist, by residents and hired thugs, in an attempt to forcefully evict him from his father's house.

Adeoti whose office is located at No. 20 Oliyid street, Sobande Avenue, Oremeji, Mokola, Ibadan, operates with the mobile numbers-07039597376/08132653307.

Indeed, the journalist, a legitimate son of the late Chief D.A Adewumi is in possession of the property documents of the house.

At about 5.30 am on Saturday morning the lawyer disembarked from a light grey Toyota Camry under the cover of darkness and pasted papers with inscription, ‘’ NOTICE OF CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP AND STATUTORY NOTICE TO QUIT APARTMENT AT NO. 3, KEHNIDE ADERIGIBE STREET, OLORUNSOGO, MOLETE, IBADAN, while an old woman, landlady, who resides at No. 8 of the same street, watched out for the lawyer, urging him to be quick.

‘’Notice to Quit

Our client urgently requires vacant possession of the premises to commence extensive works and renovations on the property.

Accordingly, we hereby give you notice to quit and deliver up possession of the apartment with its appurtenances, which you currently hold on or before 20 September 20206.

We strongly advise you to make immediate arrangements to vacate the premises timeously.

We trust you will act with the urgency this matter demands.’’

A stitch in time saves nine, the principal counsel, Abdulramon Adeoti wrote in the letter, which has the Nigeria Bar Association seal.

A few minutes after the lawyer drove off, thugs in their large numbers brandishing dangerous weapons passed by the house warning the journalist to pack out  immediately or be killed. 

Indeed, the lawyer’s behavior suggested that he and his sponsors have been behind the several life-threatening attacks by hired thugs.

Before this time, the journalist had written a petition titled ‘’DEATH THREATS’’ to the Commissioner of Police, Oyo state Police Command.

For long, several residents of the ancient city have been dispossessed of their houses through fraudulent means with the instrumentality of residents, family members, lawyers, estate agents and thugs.

Prominent among the thugs are one Segun Adewale, Lekan Adewale, Imole Adewale all of No. 3, KEHINDE ADERIGIBE STREET, OLORUNSOGO, MOLETE, IBADAN and one ‘’Ay’’, an estate agent, whose shop is at Amoke Mall in the community which serves as base for the criminals.

As events unfolded, the petitioner wrote a petition to the Commissioner of Police Oyo state Police Command.

However, the attitude of the O/C Monitoring, where the petition was assigned to and the Investigating Police officer, one Inspector Abbey discouraged the petitioner from going further. 

Their activities were not in confromity with satutroy proivisons.

Interestingly, the brothers and sisters (Mr. Taiye Adewumi, Mr. Tunji Adewumi, Mrs. Hannah Mujakperuo and Mrs. Susan Takure)of the petitioner are complicit in the criminal act.

On several occasions, hired thugs have invaded and vandalized facilities in the house, and stole valuables belonging to the journalist running into millions of Naira, all in an attempt to evict the journalist illegally.

Sadly, indiscipline, lawlessness and criminality is now a way of life for many including the lawyer and the affected law enforcement agents.

2027 elections: God will take control-Prophet Arabambi

 

As the 2027 general elections approaches, even though insecurity persists in the land and hunger and poverty are the lot of millions of Nigerians, in this interview Prophet Timothy Arabambi of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Reformation Land (Ile Atunse), Olunloyo, Akanran, Ibadan, Nigeria expresses the conviction that there will be divine intervention.

Excerpts:

How has been the task of spreading the gospel, as you mark the 4oth year anniversary of your church?

In every government there must be the opposition. Do, God has been good on to us because we have been swimming in the divine grace, divine favor and divine mercy of God.

So, by the special grace of God, we have been able to weather the storm.

So many waters have passed under the bridge, and we have giving glory to God who has been with us.

And the joy of the Lord is our joy

Though Satan and his cohorts fought with all the powers to destabilize us, but we overcame and we are still overcoming Satan and his forces of darkness.

What are your views regarding political development in the country?

The spate of kidnapping is slowly on the decline and I know by the special grace of God insecurity will come to an end eventually.

We give glory to God for what He did in Osun state. God listened to the cries of His people. So, I glorify our God that answered my prayers.

In my message during our night vigil last week Thursday, I state that the elections in Osun state would be similar to that of the 2015 general elections. Then, Nigerians thought that the country would go up in flames. But I expressed optimism that the general elections would be peaceful. And, indeed, the elections were peaceful.

So also, the elections in Osun state. You can see that God took perfect control.

To the extent that the President, Senator Ahmed Tinubu congratulated Governor Adeleke. This is beyond human comprehension.

So also, during the 2027 general elections God will take perfect control. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow/ It shall be well with Nigerians and Nigeria in Jesus Christ name. Amen.

On several occasions I have been attacked by hoodlums sent by my brothers and sisters. On all these occasions, I sustained serious injuries.''

Crime Friendly

 In a society where justice and the rule of law prevails, the community leaders, members of the Landlords and Tenants Association, law enforcement agents(agencies), and residents of Olorunsogo, Molete, Molusi, Solanke, Oyegbami, Scout Camp,Aluko/Barracksand Felele communities in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria who sponsored hoodlums wielding stones, matchets, and iron rods to attack and injure a resident of 3, Kehinde Aderibigbe Street, Olorunsogo, Molete ought to be brought to justice.

Sadly, this is not the case.

On Saturday, 23rd August 2025, acting on the instructions of some desperate and evil inclined family members, hoodlums' resident in the community broke into the apartments of 3, Kehinde Aderibigbe street, Olorunsogo, Mlete, Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria, vandalizing electrical fittings, damaging the windows, doors, toilet and kitchen facilities and carting away valuables running into millions of Naira.

Interestingly, the residents, law enforcement and estate agents are complicit in the crime and several others in the community, although the residents continue to claim ignorance.

In addition, those behind the vandalization and looting of 3, Kehinde Aderibiggbe Street, Olorunsogo, Molete are still walking the streets freely full of boasts and acting persistently with impunity. Why is this so? Perhaps, crime and criminality are now means to several ends for Those-in-Charge, who may have severed ties with the attributes of good and focused leadership.

Of note is the fact that residents and occupants of No. 5 Kehinde Aderibigbe Street, Olorunsogo, Molete, not only vandalized the next building, No. 3 but also converted it to a refuse dump and place where excreta are also dumped.

Another dimension of criminality.

Government officials have long before now admitted the evil but blame their superiors for the public health situation.

Those-in Charge at all levels of government look on helplessly as the people contend with the hazards of a dirty environment.

The relevant law enforcement agencies are well aware of the reign of crime and criminality at Molusi, Solanke, Oyegbami, Olorunsogo, Molete, Oshodi, Aluko, Scout camp, Felele and several other communities in Ibadan, Oyo state.

But probably due to the involvement of some of the law enforcement agents with the cultists who perpetrate heinous and grievous crimes, little or nothing has been done to reverse the worrisome situation. 

This is even as there as several unreported heart rendering cases.

 Since the law enforcement agencies have the responsibility to ensure the safety of lives and property, the unending reign of terror by these cultists, who openly threaten to kill those who question their activities leaves much to be desired-  a point of reference is one '  Samba', a barber, whose barbing shop is among the block of shops located in front of a building at the Aluko/Barracks, Felele/Scout camp/Oshodi Street junction. 

He openly threatens to kill people while at the same time boasting of his connection with some officers and rank and file of the Police.

Indeed, owners of beer parlors, Ogogoro joints, hotels, and a sizable number of shops in these communities are ready accomplices of these cultists in these communities.

Indeed, if at all there is a government in place in the state, such is criminal friendly.

 

Underage Cultists take over Scout Camp market Ibadan

 

Young cultists aged between 9 and 16 years have for long converted the Scout Camp Neighborhood, market, Ibadan, Nigeria to a place of refuge.

The under-aged cultists, comprising primary, secondary school students and drop-outs,  engage in  trailing and providing information on potential victims, pick-pocketing at public places, burglary in residential areas among other crimes.

The young criminals retreat to the market as a place of safety, whenever they commit crime, just as they make use of illicit substances within the precincts of the market.

Sadly, owners of  shops and open stalls at the market give moral and financial support to the young criminals, even though the state owned security network has an office in the market.

It is however, disturbing that traders and residents carry on as if all is well, while these criminals continue to commit various crimes with impunity.

RESOLUTION OF SOUTH EAST COUNCIL OF TRADITIONAL RULERS (SECTR) ON THE AGREED/APPROVED NAME/TITLE FOR IGBO LEADERS IN DIASPORA. 

We bring you good tidings from South East Council of Traditional Rulers. 

It is our desire to use this medium to express our gratitude to you on the invaluable roles you and your group have been playing in unifying Ndigbo in Diaspora and your selfless services to humanity. 

We are particularly happy with your commitment to ensure peaceful co-existence of Ndigbo with their Host Communities in their Countries of Residence. 

Your interest and commitment to the promotion of Igbo culture and Tradition are highly commendable and appreciated as they speak volume of your love for Ndigbo, our Cultural heritage and our Tradition. 

It is important to know that the celebration of the cultural festivals of Ndigbo where you reside should be with the consent and approval of the Leadership of the South East Council of Traditional Rulers or of a particular State Council of Traditional Rulers as the case may be. Invitation to attend such festivals may be extended to any or some Igbo recognized Traditional Rulers in order to add colour and glamour to the occasion. 

It has become very expedient for the South East Council of Traditional Rulers to use this medium to make the necessary clarifications to you and other Igbo Leaders in Diaspora on the use of the Title "Eze" in Igbo-land as follows:

"Eze" is a revered Traditional Title Reserved by Culture, Tradition and Legislation for Traditional Rulers Recognized by Government in the South East States. 

"Eze" is also a title used by a Traditional Ruler enthroned and coronated by his Community/Kingdom in accordance with their laid down customs, culture and Traditions inherited from their Fore-Bearers, Progenitors and Ancestors. 

You may wish to know that issues associated with the selection and enthronement of a Traditional Ruler are deep rooted in certain Rituals, Divinations, and Sacred ceremonies that are clearly defined and established by the Cultures of various ethnic Nationalities Ndigbo inclusive. 

"Eze" as the king is referred to in Igbo-Land should have a Community, Kingdom or clan to administer. This is to say (suffice it to say) that there cannot be an "Eze" without a Community, Kingdom or clan to rule.

An "Eze" must have a Symbol of Authority - the Ofo which is not merely ceremonial but a spiritual tool given to him by his people to enable him perform his statutory Cultural and Traditional Roles in his Community as the Traditional Ruler. 

The Title "Eze" cannot be given to or conferred on persons residing outside Igbo Communities irrespective of their personality or positions (elective or otherwise) since it is not a Political Title and neither is it a Title of Convenience but one rooted in the Culture and Traditions of a people. 

This clarification has become very necessary at this auspicious time to enable you and your colleagues know the difference between genuine Igbo Traditional Rulers from their subjects who are Igbo Leaders in Diaspora. 

It is important to note that the South East Council of Traditional Rulers are not averse (against) our subjects in Diaspora having a formidable leadership outside Igbo-land as unity is key to power, peace and progress. 

We are glad to inform you that South East Council of Traditional Rulers after several meetings, deliberations and due considerations have approved "Onyendu Ndigbo" (Igbo Leader in Diaspora) as the most appropriate name for whoever is the Head of Ndigbo in any place abroad or in Diaspora outside Nigeria.. 

Consequently, all Igbo Leaders abroad or in Diaspora are to revert to this approved and agreed title with immediate effect. Similarly, all sign posts, letter heads, complimentary cards etc are to be designed to reflect this. 

We thank Almighty God and the gods of our land for granting us the grace and wisdom to settle amicably this protracted contentious issue which has lingered for decades of years, but now put to rest in a most peaceful manner (Supreme Court judgment not withstanding). 

It is pertinent to know that full and immediate compliance on the use of the agreed Title will open doors of reconciliation, recognition and felicitation from both the Traditional and Government Authorities of your States of Residence and those of South East respectively. 

Non-compliance however on a case that has been adjudicated by a competent court with jurisdiction shall be tantamount to gross insubordination, misconduct, belligerency and contempt of court which should not be associated with holders of such exalted leadership positions as it takes two to tango. 

Conclusion: 

South East Council of Traditional Rulers welcomes you on board the leadership of Ndigbo in Diaspora with open arms and has decided to extend our hands of fellowship to you in the discharge of your civic duties. We appreciate your collective efforts in the peaceful resolution of this protracted and contentious issue. Your courtesy visit and goodwill messages created an atmosphere of brotherly love and mutual respect among yourselves with ourselves, for the Royal Fathers. They served as catalyst that precipitated the speedy disposition of this case in this dispensation. 

All hands must be on deck to take Ndigbo to their Eldorado. Our culture is our life, our Tradition, our stake. Both must be upheld and respected in all circumstances and situations no matter whose ox is gored.
