What becomes of the terrorists in Olorunsogo, Molete, Ibadan, Nigeria?

Terrorism is one of the products of lack of parental care for young people.

Human decimation is evil and the outcome of depraved minds in leadership positions.

However, the government at all levels do not respect human lives. They forcefully take from the poor to enrich themselves and their cronies.

Already, the socialization process is broken down.

Violent crimes still persist in every part of Nigeria, this is very disturbing, unfortunate, pitiable and a very sad commentary. 

It may be very surprising for any right-thinking citizen to absolve politically exposed persons in government, government officials and criminal elements in uniforms of the persistent violent crimes.

The primary duty of those in uniforms is the protection of lives and property.

Sadly, this is not the case in Oyo state.

In Olorunsogo, Molete, Ibadan, Oyo state, cultists whose hideout still remains at No. 8 Kehinde Aderibigbe street, Oyo state led by one Imole Adewale, a student at Ibadan Grammar School and sponsored by some dropouts including one Lekan Adewale and Segun Adewale, who for several years have been terrorizing residents of the ancient city, Sunday 8th February 2026, broke into a building, No. 3 of the same street and made away with valuables running into millions of Naira.

On Monday, 16ht February, 2026 at about 8.15 pm in the night, the criminals struck again, attacking and robbing at gun point, an innocent citizen of his valuables and personal belongings.

The scene of the incident was  in front of their hideout, a bungalow, 8 Kehinde Aderibigbe street, Olorunsogo, Molete, Ibadan, Oyo state.

An unspecified number of innocent citizens have been killed by these criminals, who freely move around in public.

It is now obvious that the major legacy the leadership at all levels of government will leave behind revolves around:

1)Illiteracy 2) Lawlessness 3) Indiscipline 4) Criminality 5) Immorality 6) 7) Evil

Indeed, the cultists were able to operate for two hours unhindered with the covert support of residents.

The heavy presence of strangers under the guise of makeshift iron sheets, containers and wooden shop owners in most communities in the ancient city has exposed the criminal mindset of the leadership.

Expectedly, happenings in various parts of the city are no longer surprising to citizens, as visible reasons abound everywhere you go.

Sadly, several young people have been co-opted into the vicious cycle of heinous and grievous crimes.

Syndicate steals IBEDC service wires from residence in Ibadan

A syndicate that specializes in the stealing of electric service wires from residential buildings now operates in Ibadan, Nigeria. The criminal group comprising some unscrupulous elements in the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) co-opted financially indisposed individuals to give out vital information that would be of mutual benefit. On Tuesday, 17 December, 2024, between 2:45 pm and 3:10 pm in the afternoon, a marketer and a technician, both workers of the IBEDC, stole the four service wires that supply electricity to the four apartments at No. 3 Kehinde Aderibigbe Street, Olorunsogo, Molete. Before the ugly act, the criminals had sat down and strategized at a shoemaker's shop at No. 6. The shoemaker had in turn entertained them. After the act, the criminals, who brought along a ladder, made away with the stolen items while residents of the community watched with keen interest. In recent times, cases of the theft of the DISCO's equipment and materials have become rampant.

A dehumanized mental psyche

 

Nigerians have expressed visible worries over the activities of criminals operating in commercial motorcycles, vehicles with tinted glasses, vehicles with foreign plate numbers, and vehicles without number plates.

They argue that most crimes in different parts of the country are committed through these motorcycles and vehicles and express surprise over the way the criminals beat the scrutiny of law enforcement agents along the road.

Innocent citizens who reside in Lagos, Ibadan, Benin City, Port Harcourt, Warri, Onitsha, Aba, Kaduna, Kano, and Abuja, among others, have continued to recount their tales of woe to whoever cared to listen.

Sadly, the law enforcement agents, saddled with the responsibility of ensuring law and order and the adherence to the road safety rules and regulations, have for long adopted a conspiratorial attitude, mainly because of the benefits that would accrue from aiding and abetting criminals.

Nigerians are now of the opinion that the laws of the land are either no longer functional or  those in charge and the law enforcement agencies are deliberately sabotaging the enforcement of the laws for their self-centered motives. 

A victim of the worrisome state of insecurity in Ibadan, Nigeria, who spoke incognito, reveals his experience.

‘’There is a beer parlor opposite the Iyanganku Magistrate; it is among the several shops that share the same fence with the police barracks. A door inside the beer parlor leads into the barracks. Visit the beer parlor and observe those who patronize the beer parlor, and you will agree that those who break the law have the blessing of the persons whose statutory functions include the protection of lives and property, he stated.

The general feeling is that some criminally minded law enforcement agents make use of criminals as proxies in carrying out their statutory functions, which has resulted in the harassment, intimidation, and arrest of unsuspecting citizens.

Of worry is the adopted official status of lawlessness, indiscipline, and criminality in different parts of the country.

Indeed, illiteracy and ignorance have also contributed significantly to the scheme of things as presently constituted.

The mental psyche of millions of Nigerians has been dehumanized and degraded; this has resulted in unthinkable occurrences.

These occurrences have consumed a sizable chunk of those in charge.

The widespread, uninhibited prevalence of the lawless acts, to millions of Nigerians, is an indication that there is already a failure in leadership; with no visible remedy in sight for now.

Pennsylvania Man Arrested for Assaulting Law Enforcement and Other Charges During Jan. 6 Capitol Breach

Defendant Accused of Assaulting Law Enforcement with OC Spray WASHINGTON — A Pennsylvania man has been arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges, including assaulting law enforcement, related to his actions during the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. He and others helped to disrupt a joint session of the U.S. Congress convened to count the electoral votes of the 2020 presidential election. Troy Spackman, 40, of West York, Pa., is charged in a criminal complaint filed in the District of Columbia with felony offenses of civil disorder and assaulting, resisting, or impeding federal officers. In addition to the felonies, Spackman is charged with misdemeanor offenses of disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds, and act of physical violence in the Capitol grounds or buildings. Spackman was arrested today in Harrisburg and will make his initial appearance in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. According to court documents, Spackman traveled to Washington, D.C., to attend a rally on Jan. 6, 2021, and afterward walked toward the U.S. Capitol building and then to the side of the building with the inauguration scaffolding. Spackman was identified by federal investigators in multiple videos concerning the events of that day, wearing a black jacket and dark-colored hat with a “dk” logo. In one such video, Spackman is seen holding a cell phone above his head in his right hand and in his left hand holding two canisters of Oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray. Court documents say that the OC spray carried by Spackman appears to be Combined Tactical Systems MK-9 OC spray, a less-than-lethal product intended to cause temporary pain and injury that can, in rare instances and if used incorrectly, lead to property damage, serious bodily injury, or death. In another open-source video taken at the Capitol building, Spackman appears to point a canister of OC spray toward uniformed officers from an elevated position. In the video, Spackman’s right arm is extended toward the officers, holding a canister of OC spray, and appears to have a second canister of OC spray in his left rear pocket. In the video, a mist of spray comes from the canister, consistent with the deployment of OC spray. Investigators then reviewed body-worn camera footage depicting Spackman with his right arm extended, deploying the OC spray at approximately 2:31 p.m. This case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Department of Justice National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section. Valuable assistance was provided by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. This case is being investigated by the FBI's Philadelphia Field Office’s Capital Area Resident Agency and Washington Field Offices. In the 33 months since Jan. 6, 2021, more than 1,100 individuals have been charged in nearly all 50 states for crimes related to the breach of the U.S. Capitol, including more than 400 individuals charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement, a felony. Seeking Foreign Direct Investment

b>Lawlessness is now the way of life in Nigeria, due to the lingering poverty and hunger in the land. A review of the economy and security architecture will unravel the untold story, only if a transparent probe is conducted in the days to come. A number of the crises in the last eight years have generated revenue for a few pockets, with millions of Nigerians always contending with the sufferings and hardships during such crises. Indeed, the interests of Nigerians have been undermined or destabilized based on ethnic, religious and gender considerations. Sadly, the political leaders in the states, have failed to convincingly ensure a conducive environment, but are in the nick of time, seeking direct investment. Investors can only develop confidence in the economy when there is regular electricity supply, free flow of potable water, good and motorable roads, security of lives and property, skilled and trained power and favorable incentives for startups.

The Threats to Higher Education

Higher institutions in the country have for long contended with the activities of students and non-students, which causes lawlessness, deviant behavior and criminality-on and off the various campuses in Nigeria. Indeed, workers, petty traders and visitors have also been crucial participants in these problems, while the managements of the affected institutions feign ignorance or are oblivious of the problems. Of worry, is the unwritten consent by some members of management for the despicable acts. Indeed, homosexuality is now prevalent in these citadels of learning and, surprisingly, members of the communities have taken the abnormal to be normal. Stakeholders in the education sector have rather been silent, but rather dissipated energy on the establishment of more institutions.Perhaps. However, for the Dean of Students' Affairs, University of Ibadan, Prof. Adekeye Abiona, the University, does not have such issues. ''We don't have such issues at the University of Ibadan. Maybe it is in Agbowo, where there are Polytechnic and other students that are not our students. If you want more information, ask the law enforcement agents. There is no way non-students can get into our halls of residence. Besides, we have hall wardens. Students enter the halls with their identity cards. We are so strict about this, no one can get into the halls without permission. We don't have it in U.I, nobody has reported such.We have an Anti-Cultism Committee, we were at the College of Medicine for a social re-orientation program. The Center for Social Orientation(CSO_ was established to take care of such vices. Our students will never indulge in that. There is what we call students' handbook. They have the matriculation oath. Our students are well behaved and we have the Students Disciplinary Committee(SDC) to handle such issues,'' Prof. Abiona stated.

Above the Law

The trend in several states of Nigeria today are the threats to public peace with impunity, violence and the unlawful possession of firearms. Indeed, criminals sponsored by politically exposed persons have always been in and out of the custody of law enforcement and security agencies. Sadly, they are, most of the time, let off the hook without prosecution. The insinuation is that they are above the law. Interestingly, these criminals who have been involved in heinous and grievous crimes against humanity walk the streets freely. Of worry is the fact that an unspecified number of uniformed personnel have a longstanding relationship with criminals, while the production of stickers, emblems and souvenirs, uniforms and other accessories for law enforcement and security agencies continues as the count down to the 2023 general elections begin. ot surprisingly, most political office holders who seek to retain their positions and those aspiring to occupy political offices rely on threats, violence, intimidation and subversion to achieve their self-centered ambitions. The government has continued to feign ignorance for unknown reasons. Note- The increase in the duty tour allowance would greatly benefit Minsters and Permanent secretaries. This is a wrong direction, considering the increase in the Pay As You Earn Taxes of civil and public servants.

Remaining Defendants Convicted In Conspiracy To Kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer

GRAND RAPIDS – A federal jury today(Tuesday) convicted two men charged in connection with a conspiracy to kidnap the Governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer. Adam Fox, of Wyoming, Michigan, and Barry Croft Jr., of Bear, Delaware, were found guilty of conspiracy to kidnap the governor and conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction against persons or property. Croft was additionally convicted of knowingly possessing an unregistered destructive device, specifically an improvised explosive wrapped in pennies for shrapnel. According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Fox and Croft intended to kidnap Governor Whitmer from her vacation cottage near Elk Rapids, Michigan and use the destructive devices to facilitate their plot by harming and hindering the governor’s security detail and any responding law enforcement officers. “Today’s verdict confirms this plot was very real and very dangerous,” said former U.S. Attorney Andrew Birge for the Western District of Michigan, appointed to oversee the trial. “These men posed a threat not only to the Governor personally but also to bystanders. No elected leader should have to contend with what Governor Whitmer faced here. She deserves to live in safety, not in fear, just like everyone else in our State. All of our elected leaders deserve that, and the Justice Department will not tolerate violent extremist plots of this nature seeking to undermine our democracy” “These defendants believed their anti-government views justified violence,” said Special Agent in Charge James A. Tarasca of the FBI’s Detroit Field Office. “Today’s verdict sends a clear message that they were wrong in their assessment. Violence is never the answer. The FBI will continue to investigate anyone who seeks to engage in violence in furtherance of any ideological cause and hold them accountable.” Co-conspirator Ty Garbin was sentenced to six years in prison in August 2021 after pleading guilty to the original indictment charging him with conspiracy to kidnap Governor Whitmer. Co-defendant Kaleb James Franks also pleaded guilty to the conspiracy to kidnap charge in February 2022 and is awaiting sentencing. Co-defendants Daniel Joseph Harris and Brandon Michael-Ray Caserta were acquitted of charges at trial earlier this year. The kidnapping conspiracy and the conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction are punishable by up to life in prison. Possession of an unregistered destructive device and the possession of an unregistered short barrel rifle are each punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The presiding judge, Judge Robert Jonker, will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. The FBI’s Detroit Field Office investigated the case with valuable assistance provided by the FBI’s Baltimore Field Office and the Joint Terrorism Task Force, including Michigan State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
