Serve Nigerians Not Yourselves-Cleric to Political Office Holders

Image
The government at all levels has been reminded of its primary responsibilities to Nigerians as citizens continue to groan in these difficult times. This reminder was given by an Ibadan-based cleric, Pastor Opeyemi Ajayi ''Thoe elected into various positions at all levels should be reminded of the fact that they were elected to serve the people, to ensure the safety of lives and property, and to be accountable to the people whenever necessary. They should remember that are in their various offices to serve the people and not themselves. Nigerians are suffering,'' Pastor Ajayi stated. In the same vein, a former chairman of the Oyo state council of the Trade Union Congress(TUC) Comrade Andrew Emelieze has described the actions and inactions of the present administration as a ploy to buy time for unknown reasons. ''Thses crop of political office holders have nothing to offer, they are only buying time for unknown reasons,'' Comrade Emelieze stated.

Accept Responsibility when Wrong

Image
The confessions of sins ensures that we confront the reality of different situations. Our loving and redeeming Svior forgives us and renews hope within us. We must accept responsibility for our actions and acknowledge that we are wrong and have committed sins. 1 Samuel 7 : 1-13 1And the men of Kirjathjearim came, and fetched up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD. 2And it came to pass, while the ark abode in Kirjathjearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD. 3And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines. 4Then the children of Israel did put away Baalim and Ashtaroth, and served the L...

Life has become Unbearable for Nigerians-Labor Leader

Image
Life has become unbearable for millions of Nigerians as a result of government-induced hardships and difficulties. This assertion was made by the deputy chairperson of the Association of Senior Civil Servants(ASCSN), Comrade(Mrs) Tayo Adebanjo-Adesida. ''Life has become unbearable for Nigerians due to the removal of the petrol subsidy and other policies of the government. This removal without consulting stakeholders is a big mistake,'' Comrae Adebanjo-Adeisda stated. Similarly, a former chairman of the University College Hospital(UCH)Ibadan branch and the Oyo state council of the Nigeria Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP), Comrade Olusegun Sotiloye has blamed the disturbing situation across the country on the long silence of the government. ''The government has been silent for too long, and this has made the situation degenerate. As things stand now, there is no hope. Patients are finding it extremely difficult to visit the hospital due to the hig...

Calls for Urgent Deliverance

Image
The key elements of tyranny include, but are not limited to, insensitivity, brutality, random arrests, incarceration and unresolved cases of killings. Curiously, the prohibitive price of the Premium Motor Spirit(PMS) is already having multiple negative effects on the economy, even as Nigerians persist in their daily lamentations of the unbearable hardships that have been their lot in recent times. Indeed, governance on the platform of deformed democratic institutions attracts tyranny, which is not in tandem with the wishes and expectations of Nigerians. Interestingly, the people are yet to identify any conceivable reason for the policy direction of Those-in-Charge towards the worrisome and disturbing situation that called for urgent deliverance. The cost of living is on the rise on a daily basis and Those-in-Charge continue to appeal and cajole citizens to take their sufferings as sacrifices that must be made for the anti-people policies that are ravaging the land. Self Pr...

Guiding the Lost

Image
Do not relent, direct and guide those who have gone wrong, in so many instances and situations, back to the right path. Make it your duty to lead those who are lost back to Jesus. Mark 2 : 1-12 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. 2And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. 3And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. 4And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. 5When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. 6But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, 7Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? 8And i...

Give Nigerian Youths Loans to Stem the High rate of Unemployment and Crime-Ezendigbo Of Oyo state

Image
Numbers of Nigerian youths have all this while perceiving criminality as a dependable and reliable means to an end, since they are products of sucessive leadership that vigorously promote all acts of crime and criminality as ways of life. Indeed, an unspecified number of these youths are now ready tools in the hands of the political class on issues relating to all that the laws of the land frowns at. In this message to the youths, on the occasion of the World Youths Skills Day(an annual event of the United Nations) on 15th July 2023, he Ezendigbo of Ibadan and Oyo state, Eze(Dr.) Alex Anozie. Excerpts: My goodwill message to the youths is that I wish them well. I was once a youth and I prayed for them that their future should be better than the past. Unfortunately, successive leadership in Nigeria has never been fair to the youths. It is painful, they graduate with no job. It is very unfortunate because there are no jobs for them, they are already engaging in so many vices-drug addic...

Reforming the Economy

Image
It is to the knowledge of millions of Nigerians that the basic social-economic institutions have been destroyed. The challenge now is how to fix the nation's health, education, judiciary and other institutions or ensure a satisfactory turn around. In developed countries, economic activities are the backbone of politics and, as such, distortions or reversal of economic policies or long-term strategic national objectives are rare. Sadly, little or nothing has been achieved to guarantee a good economic foundation, which ought to be the backrest of politics. This is reflected in the awkward power sharing, power rotation and inequitable distribution of resources and good governance. The kind of economic reforms by the government would go a long way in determining if Those-in-Charge are neophytes in the herculean task of governance. Aiding and Abeting Criminals For so long, cultists such as one Wolex and Lekan Adewale of 8 Kehinde Aderibigbe steet, Olorunsogo, Molete, Ibadan, Oyo stat...

Care for your children and Wards

Image
Parents and guradians should care for their children and wards. They must guard against spiritual harm, teach them about the threats of the world, the flesh and the devil. Proverbs 29 : 11-17 A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. 12 If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked. 13 The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes. 14 The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever. 15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. 16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall. 17 Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

LGs in Oyo state have gone into Extinction-Former Councillor

Democracy is not in place at the Local Government Level in Nigeria. This assertion was made by a former Councillor in the Ibadan South East Local Government Area of Oyo state, Honorbale Yusuf Babatunde. ''Although elections are conducted by the local governments in Oyo state, those who are there now got to the positions by selection. This is a bad approach. The state governments in the affected states have now taken over the sources of revenue of the local governments, including their functions. The chairmen and councillors receive only salaries. They are now expressing regrets. The local governments are no longer empowered financially as, as a result, they have been crippled. It is a one-man show,'' Hon. Babatunde lamented.

A Few Wrong Steps

Image
Nigerians are astonished that violent crimes have continued in different parts of the country unabated.   Numbers of human lives have been lost and property running into millions of Naira has been destroyed, as a result of a few wrong steps by Those-in-Charge of governance at all levels.  Those who know are reluctant to expose the deep involvement of the acclaimed representatives of the people.  This is unfortunate, as can be seen in Olorunsogo, Molete, Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria.

Hold on to the right beliefs

Image
The right beliefs ensures the preservation of life, just as the wrong ones results in disaster. By understanding the Word of God you will avoid the wrong beliefs. 1 Kings 20 : 1,20-30 And Benhadad the king of Syria gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots: and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it. And they slew every one his man: and the Syrians fled; and Israel pursued them: and Benhadad the king of Syria escaped on an horse with the horsemen. 21 And the king of Israel went out, and smote the horses and chariots, and slew the Syrians with a great slaughter. 22 And the prophet came to the king of Israel, and said unto him, Go, strengthen thyself, and mark, and see what thou doest: for at the return of the year the king of Syria will come up against thee. 23 And the servants of the king of Syria said unto him, Their gods are gods of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight agai...

This call was made by an Ibadan-based Christian cleric, Pastor Opeyemi Ajayi. ''Nigeria's leaders must start to treat their fellow Nigerians with a human face, by addressing the core causes of hunger, poverty and unemployment. This would go a long way in straightening the paths they thread for God to bless their activities and works. When they treat their fellow human beings very well, of course God will bless all they do,'' Pastor Ajayi noted.

Farmers Worry

Image
Farmers in Nigeria have continued to lament the hostile attitude of the government at all levels towards the enactment of a policy that would empower and safeguard them. Of worry, are the numerous challenges weighing down the agricultural sector, among which is the astronomical costs of processing and distribution between the farms and markets. Indeed, the insecurity in different parts of the country has resulted in the forced annexation of the ancestral land of the people by faceless actors backed by Those-in-Charge. In so many states the real estate business has distracted the elected representatives of Nigerians form their primary responsibilties, while lawlessness and criminality have defied all solutions. Difficulties in accessing credit, farm loss and policy-induced distortions have also contributed to the situation today, that has translated to hunger and poverty. Sadly, the ailing sector has ensured the acute shortage of food, a high rate of unemployment, increase in the pove...

The Wages of Sin

Image
We must pay the wage for our sin. If you continue to sin, you will pay the penalty of spiritual death: You will not only die physically; you will also die spiritually and be separated from our holy God for all eternity in hell. 1 John Chapter 1 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
