Image
The abuse of social media by young people has been identified as been attributed to the collapse of indiscipline and the collapse of social media. This is the position of the Founder, Spiritual Head and Grand Imam of Shafaudeen-in-Islam Worldwide, Prof. Sabitu Olagoke at the Annual Stakeholders' Conference/O'LEG Grand Finale at Wakajaiye, Ibadan, Nigeria. ''The environment of indiscipline and breakdown of due process in transaction as well as the collapse of that of the socialization process is responsible for the various misuse and abuse of social media to the detriment of peace, our security and sustainable development achievement by very many nations, the African continent and Nigeria in particular. Various abuses range, such as hacking, defrauding through ATM, Yahoo yahoo+ and ritual killings, women sacrifices(ladies) and mother victims(incest)etc. Parents should be good examples to theri children and support them to achieve their goals.'' Guard against Grooming 'Monsters'-Prof. Olagoke to Parents and Guardians

Image
Parents and guardians have been called upon to guard against grooming their children and wards  from becoming threats to them and society at large. This call was made by the Founder, Spiritual Head and Grand Imam of Shafaudeen-in-Isalam Worldwide, Prof. Sabitu Olagoke in his address titled, Good Parenting: An Antidote to Wasted Generation Syndrome at the Shafaudeen Group of Schools Inter House Sports day and the Opening of the Ishrat 2024 at Wakajaiye, Ibadan, Nigeria. ''We are celebrating God for giving us children. Wasted generation are products from bad homes. When you produce a wasted generation, they will kill you. Monsters you call children. Is your child in danger because you are too indulgent? When you spoil your child, you send him/her to early grave. When you don't discipline, you are preparing for a monumental shocker. May the true God not let us know the grave of our children. May we not be victims of our child's early or sudden death. Ameen!'' Pro...

Be Filled with the Holy Spirit

Image
We should acknowledge the need for God's presence in our lives by choosing to obey God's Word and continually depend on Him. Acts 2 :1-13 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 7And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 8And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? 9Part...

Federal Workers warn on the Non-Payment of outstanding wage Award

Image
Federal workers who are yet to receive four months of the Federal Government's announced wage award have warned that it could affect productivity. The workers expressed reservations over the hardships and difficulties they were experiencing as a result of the non-payment of the arrears of the wage award. ''To start with, the Nigeria Labor Congress and the Trade Union Congress are dead in Nigeria, it is not possible to have functional unions, while workers are being subjected to such horrible  conditions of living because they do not have money. If the government is reluctant to clear the outstanding wage award, this could take its toll on the productivity of the workers. There is a saying that to whom much is given, much is expected, but in this instance nothing has been given. What do you expect?'' they asked.

Work Hard to become Great-Ladoke Akintola's daughter to Students

Image
Students have been advised to focus on their studies to achieve greatness in life. This advice was given on Thursday by the daughter of the late Premier of the Western region, Dr. Bimbo Akintola at the 2024 Samuel Ladoke Akintola Memorial lecture and Award Presentation in Ibadan, Nigeria. ''You are all students who will become very important people in life, read hard, study hard, and thank God for everything. We really wanted students to be here today because History was taken out of the education curriculum and later returned. History is very important. My children, students, teachers are also very important. ''My father, Samuel Ladoket Akintola was a teacher. He was a father who would go miles to see each and every one of us through our education. He excelled, but he was not appreciated. I pray that my children will have such things said about you. May your teachers be blessed,'' Dr. Akintola stated.

Image
The present crop of leaders in Nigeria have been called upon to learn from past leaders. This call was made on Thursday by the Onyendu Ndigbo of Oyo state, High Chief Alloy Obi on the sidelines of the 2024 Samuel Ladoke Akintola Memorial lecture and Award Presentation in Ibadan, Nigeria. ''Politicians should sustain the legacies they left behind by past leaders.. They should also learn from our former leaders. Furthermore, Nigerians should be prayerful. We need prayers to overcome the country's challenges,'' High Chief Obi stated.

Government is to blame for upsurge in Kidnappings-Comrade Emelieze

Image
Express Your Views on Insecurity in Nigeria Here The rise in the cases of kidnappings in Nigeria have been attributed to the inability of the government at all levels to emancipate the people economically. This is the position of a former chairman of the Oyo state council of the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Andrew Emelieze. ''When the government at all levels are unable to empower Nigerians economically, those with criminal tendencies have embraced kidnappings as a source of income. The government should take urgent steps to reverse the trend and also the complicity of  security agents should be looked into,''Comrade Emelieze stated.

Acknowledge Your Sins

Image
Express Your Views on Insecurity in Nigeria Here  It is a trend for the sinful to always shift attention from himself or herself by pointing the finger at others. Indeed, when others appear to be greater sinners than we are, it's just an illusion. God extends His pardon only to those who humbly acknowledge their sins. Psalm 14 1 (To the chief Musician,  A Psalm  of David.) The fool hath said in his heart,  There is  no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works,  there is  none that doeth good. 2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand,  and  seek God. 3 They are all gone aside, they are  all  together become filthy:  there is  none that doeth good, no, not one. 4 Have all the workers of ini...

TUC must purge itself of all abnormalities before....-Comrade Emelieze

Image
Insecurity in Nigeria-Express Your Views- Click Here The executives of the Trade Union Congress(TUC) have been called upon to purge the union of all immoralities and abnormalities before the union can commence negotiations for a new national minimum wage on behalf of workers in Nigeria. This call was made by a former chairman of the TUC in Oyo state, Comrade Andrew Emelieze. One of the prominent and top ranking executives of the TUC is a retired staff member of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Productivity. It is morally wrong and abnormal for a retiree to be among those who will negotiate a new national minimum wage for workers. The retiree is supposed to be a member of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners. The TUC must purge itself of this abnormality before it begins any form of negotiation on behalf of workers in Nigeria, '' Comrade Eme...

Stakeholders in the broadcast Industry expect Digital Switch Over this year-CE0 Jagban

Image
Nigerians are full of hopes that the Federal Government will actualize the long awaited digital switch over  this year. This assertion was made by the Chef Executive Officer of Jagaban Communications International, Mr. Samuel Adenitan. ''The analogue system of broadcast is no longer the trend in several countries of the world. We  expect a digital switch over this year. It started in 2010, and another attempt was made in 2012. I think it is high time for Nigeria to completely switch over . The National Broadcasting Commission just switched on . The Federal Government would be responsible for providing set up boxes for homes in the country. In addition the government should allow key stakeholders to invest or participate in the distribution and generation of signals,'' Mr. Adenitan stated. He maintained that the proliferation of private radio stations was healthy for the country,  saying'' this encourages opinions to be expressed and molded across different str...

A Step at a Time

Image
Trust God to met your needs every day. Do not carry all of tomorrow's burden today, you could collapse under the load. Luke 12:22-31 So  is  he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. 22  And he said unto his disciples,  Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. 23  The life is more than meat, and the body  is more  than raiment. 24  Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? 25  And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? 26  If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? 27  Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28  If the...

UCH NASU Hopeful on Suspended Elections-Chairman

Image
The Non-Academic Staff Union and Associated Institutions(NASU) University College Hospital(UCH) Ibadan, Nigeria has expressed hopes that the suspended union elections will take place in the first quarter of the year. The union made this known through its chairman, Comrade Kehinde Abiona. ''We are very hopeful that the the suspended elections of the union will come up within the first quarter of the year'', Comrade Abiona stated. He also expressed joy at the reopening of the union's office, saying,''to God be the glory, the NASU secretariat was reopened on the 4th January 2024 after a letter of appeal dated 29th 0f December 2023 was written to the management.''

Federal Workers Lament the Non-Payment of 4 months N35,000 Wage Award

Image
An unspecified number of federal workers in Nigeria have expressed reservations over the payment of only one month of the N35,000 wage award by the Federal Government. The workers made their reservations known through a former chairman of the Oyo state council of the Trade Union Congress(TUC) Comrade Andrew Emelieze. ''The Federal government promised six months. It only paid for September 2023 and stopped thereafter. As I speak to you October, November and December have only been paid to some workers, while others are yet to be paid. It will soon be four months that workers have not got the wage award. Even if the government pays today, the purpose of the wage award has already been defeated, it may not at this moment impact positively on the lives of the affected federal workers,''Comrade Emelieze stated.

WAEC Exams Forms for the Indigent

Image
The national office of the West African Examinations Council(WAEC) has announced the commencement of the sale of its examination forms for private candidates in Nigeria. The forms cost N27,500, bank charges inclusive. Parents and guardians are not only confused, but also worried about how to access the funds to obtain the forms for their children and wards. The government at all levels are presently focused on the expenditure in view for the education sector with regard to this year's budgetary allocation. Sadly, the discussion is not on how indigent students will access funds to pay for the examination forms. Nigerians are of the belief that those in government are yet to make any convincing impact on the education sector. This argument is given flesh by the large number of pupils, students and others at all levels of education, who have dropped out as a result of financial challenges. Of great worry, is the large army of miscreants on the monthly payroll of those in government....

The Problems of Nigeria emanate from the Sins of the Leadership and Follower-ship-Rev.(Dr.) Oyekanmi

Image
The sins  of the leadership and followership in Nigeria from the foundation of the myriad of problems  affecting the country. This assertion was made by Rev(Dr.) Olaolu Oyekanmi of the Amos World Outreach, the Christian Fellowship Evangelical Mission(CFEM), Moniya-Iseyin, Ijaiye-Orile, Ibadan, Nigeria. ''The major problem of the country revolves around the leadership and the followership. They have committed sins. If Nigerians can easily repent of their sins and change their behavior, activities and attitude, all will change for the better.'' ''The problems are not the change of leadership or change of political parties, but have more to do with the change of mind. If Nigerians don't change, things will not change for the better. Those-in Authority and Those-in-Charge are from different homes. There must be a change,'' Rev(Dr.) Oyekanmi stated. He also disclosed that a three day crusade tagged ''The Only Way to Save you and Nigeria'...

Ibadan Explosion-May God grant the injured quick recovery-Prophet Arabambi

Image
The explosion that rocked Adeyi avenue in the old Bodija Government Reservation Area of Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria on Tuesday night has left in its trail an unspecified number of deaths, injured citizens, homeless and several still unaccounted for. Indeed, the mindset of Those-in-Authority, on lawlessness, indiscipline, criminality and evil, long before the incident speaks volumes.  In this interview, Prophet Timothy Arabambi of the Christ Apostolic Church(C.A.C) Ile-Atunse, Olunloyo-Akanran road condoles with the families of the deceased and prays for the quick recovery of the injured.  Excerpts: What is your reaction to the explosion that rocked the old Bodija resid...

The Lamentations continues

Image
It is over 10 years since the privatization of the electricity sector in Nigeria. Sadly, millions of Nigerians remain without meters and a regular electricity supply. Indeed, those in charge of the sector are yet to achieve laid out objectives, but rather have been successful in exposing regulatory policy defects. Of worry, is the unimpressive infrastructural development, coupled with the persistent excuses by the Electricity Distribution Companies. Without doubt, those in government have hidden interests in the sector. This may be the reason why the situation remains unchanged.

Living Wage-Federal Workers Full of Hopes-Comrade Emelieze

Image
Federal workers in Nigeria have expressed hopes that the present administration would soon fix an acceptable living wage to cushion the hardships and sufferings of workers on the land. The workers made this known through a former chairman of the Oyo state council of the Trade Union Congress(TUC), Comrade Andrew Emelieze. ''Workers in Nigeria are full of  hopes that the Federal Government would soon announce a living wage that would put an end to their sufferings and tales of woes. In this respect, N300,000 is a living wage,''Comrade Emelieze stated. He also called on labor leaders to be democratic by embarking on exhaustive consultations before reaching decisions, adding'' rather than hasty decisions taken by labor bureaucrats without consultations.''

The Efficacy of Prayers

Image
When we pray as Christians the need for more zeal, greater consistency, and more faith is as important as the desire that God be glorified. When this is our primary concern, we should be confident that He will answer our prayers. John 14: 7-14 7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus saith unto him,  Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou  then , Shew us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I  am  in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the work...

The Unthinkable and the Avoidable

Image
Lawlessness, indiscipline, criminality, evil, ignorance, idleness and illiteracy are the basic foundations of terrorism.  Presently, the upbringing of young people, strange doctrines and very abnormal ways of life in several communities in Nigeria speak volumes.  Without doubt, the known and unknown conditions for breeding and training the unthinkable and avoidable have been met in communities such as Molusi, Onafuwa Solanke, Oyegbami, Olorusnsogo, Molete, Aluko, Felele, Scout Camp among several others in Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria.  A very careful observation will unearth the fact that a different strain of terrorism is gradually taking root in this part of Nigeria.   Indeed, the parents, guardians, neighbors and the leadership at all levels should be held responsible and accountable for the dangerous drift towards terrorist tendencies by these set of young people, who are known by all and sundry.

The Culture of Hard Drugs

Image
The culture of the sale and use of hard drugs is now the order of the day in several communities in Nigeria. The lives of a sizable number of young people in the country now hang in the balance as they vigorously embrace the culture. Education is no longer the destination, as violent crimes with prospects of riches increase on a daily basis. The culture is now practiced in the open and those involved surprisingly exhibit boldness and confidence. Why?  Respected members of communities covertly support the trade. At 6, Kehinde Aderibigbe street, Olorunsogo, Molete, Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria, the sellers of the outlawed substances, use the grinding of pepper and tomatoes as a smokescreen. Sadly, law enforcement agencies which benefit immensely from the drug trade are morally handicapped to eradicate it from communities.

Insecurity-The Abia Model

Image
Insecurity is a discussion among Nigerians across the country. Violent crimes, abductions and ritual killings have now become daily occurrences, while the security architecture is yet to have any convincing and meaningful impact towards stemming the ugly tide. The decision of the Abia state Governor, Alex Otti, to sanction any traditional ruler, community leader or homeowner who sponsors or supports criminal activities in communities would go a long way to reducing the crime rate in the state. This decision should be adopted by serious-minded state that are fully focused on the business of governance.

Good News

Image
In basic ethics, good news is not kept secret. We should share the salvation that is found in Jesus Christ. Become a bearer of good news. 2 Kings 7:3-9 but shalt not eat thereof. 3And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die? 4If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die. 5And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there. 6For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittite...
