Education-Gov Makinde has provided an enabling environment for teachers-Oyo NUT Chairman

  As parents and guardians continue to worry over the disturbing performance of their children and wards in both public and private primary and secondary schools in Oyo state,  in addition to the increasing cases of deviant behavior and illicit drug use, the chairman of the Oyo state council of the Nigeria Union of Teachers(NUT), Comrade Raji Oladimeji opines that the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has provided a conducive environment for teachers to thrive in the state. Excerpts: How would you assess the outgoing 2024/2025 academic session in public and private primary and secondary schools in Oyo state? Stakeholders in the broadcast Industry expect Digital Switch Over this year-CE0 Jagban

 


Nigerians are full of hopes that the Federal Government will actualize the long awaited digital switch over  this year.

This assertion was made by the Chef Executive Officer of Jagaban Communications International, Mr. Samuel Adenitan.

''The analogue system of broadcast is no longer the trend in several countries of the world. We  expect a digital switch over this year. It started in 2010, and another attempt was made in 2012. I think it is high time for Nigeria to completely switch over . The National Broadcasting Commission just switched on . The Federal Government would be responsible for providing set up boxes for homes in the country. In addition the government should allow key stakeholders to invest or participate in the distribution and generation of signals,'' Mr. Adenitan stated.

He maintained that the proliferation of private radio stations was healthy for the country,  saying'' this encourages opinions to be expressed and molded across different strata of the society.''

''However, stakeholders should pay attention to the ethical and professional practices while carrying out their assignments so that the society will be better informed for the nation to be better off for it,'' he concluded.

Lawmakers are very far from Nigerians-Comrade Emelieze

Lawmakers in both chambers of the National Assembly and the State Houses of Assembly have long ceased to represent the electorate in Nigeria. This assertion was made by the convener of the Federal Workers Forum, Comrade Andrew Emelieze. Oyo Government not taking our welfare seriously-Health Workers

  Some health workers in Oyo state have expressed reservations over the continued delay of the state government to meet their demands. The health workers, who are members of the Nigeria Union of Allied Health Professionals(NUAHP), Hospital Management Board unit, lamented that the state government ''is not taking our welfare seriously.'' ''The state government has continued to treat health workers on its payroll with levity. We are not happy about this, the government should urgently address our demands, they stated. However, the chairman of the unit, Comrade Olanrewaju Ajani disclosed that of all the demands of the health workers, the state government had only reviewed the hazard allowance.
