The Light

The light at the end of the tunnel for the vulnerable and poor.

Self focused glory

Image
The committment to the well being of the people by their leadership revolves around procalmatiom and disappointment. In place of accountability, the image of the leadership is tarnished by obsession with self focused glory, wealth, and power. John 17:1-13 The Local Scene Potable and drinkable water, in addition to affordable housing, are among the major challenges confronting millions of Nigerians up to this moment. The leadership of government at all levels are yet to make provision forpotable water low cost houses Sadly, farmlands have been annexed by the government and converted into housing estates for moneybags and their cohorts. This has resulted in massive hunger and poverty in the land.

Support the Poor-Oba Ladoja to Wealthy Nigerians

Image
Former Oyo State Governor and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has charged comfortable Nigerians to continue to pray for and support the vulnerable and indigent in society. Oba Ladoja gave this charge on Sunday in an interaction with news reporters at his Old Bodija home in Ibadan, Nigeria. ''Those of us who do not know what people are passing through should use this period to not only pray for them but also assist them. Some people have been fasting before the 30-day Ramadan fast; let us continue to pray for this set of people and also support them. We should give those that do not have. We should also move away from sin; those who have moved away from sin don't go back." Oba Ladoja counseled.

Self Giving-A Way of Life

Image
The way of the exalted Lord is not the same as that of the ''powerful'' who live in material luxuries and protect themselves at the expense of the oppressed. All power and glory belongs to Jesus Christ, who is an embodiment of selflessness and self-giving. Embrace the acts of self-giving. The Local Scene The drift  continues unhindered, even though the dubious and questionable characters have gained in the whole world and no longer listen to the lamentations of the oppressed and downtrodden. They are in a hurry to grab as much as possible because the hand writing on the wall indicates that there are ominous times ahead.

The Lordship of Jesus Christ is universal

Image
The Lord's leadership transcends boundaries of nations, language, and time. Believers from every place and every language worship Him. The exalted Lord is a credible symbol of hope and encouragement to all. Indeed, hope is precious to all those presently under the fierce grip of the oppressors. or those who discover that their faith is threatened by religious or agnostic influences. The source of comfort lies in the fact that the sovereignty of the Lord for all people is for all time. The Local Scene Below average is now the set standard for excellence wherever you turn to. This set of mortals is naturally backward and only guided by jealousy, envy, and wickedness. This informs the perpetual stagnant nature of most communities, where development is an aberration. Valuable time has been wasted and is still being wasted by stakerholders in society who have continued to glorify criminals and evildoers, who have surprisingly been elevated to the status of role models. The glaring ab...

Our Caring God

Image
Our God is  caring. He will not allow the wicked to rule over His children or mislead them to do wrong. He knows that the wickedness of man on earth is very great.  Take note that every thought of man revolves around the intent to continue with evil. Our God will bring the wickedness of the wicked to an end and ensure that the haughtiness of the arrogant is cut short. Indeed, He will lay low the pride of the ruthless.

LG Autonomy-Good Governance is asleep in Nigeria-Comrade Emelieze

Image
The foot-dragging attitude of the Federal Government on the Supreme court judgment granting autonomy to the 774 Local Governments in Nigeria is a threat to good governance. This assertion was made by the National Coordinator of the Federal Workers Forum, Comrade Andrew Emelieze. ''The lackadaisical attitude of the Federal Government towards the implementation of the Supreme Court judgment on the autonomy of the 774 Local governments is an indication that good governance is asleep.  This is a deliberate attempt by  the government to ridicule democracy. Self interest is the overriding factor in this dispensation, Nigerians are not important. This is very obvious.'' The Local Scene The loyalty and commitment of the people are crucial to the success of any political system with a focused leadership. However, the covert moral and financial support for criminals, would, without doubt, result in unabating insecurity and its attendant consequences on the political system and t...

The Work of Craftsmen

Image
We ought to always give glory to God for the gift of intellect, discernment, innovation, strenght and beauty. Without doubt life is transcient and for this reason, we ave to make god use of every moment. We shuld never be swayed by the deceit and manipulation of the vengeful despots, but cal on the Lord to guide, strengthen and protect us from all the work of craftsmen and the agents of darkness. Hosea 13:1-16 The Local Scene Everywhere you visit, parents and gaurdans ave now become watchmen and women for their cidren, who engage in pick-pocketing in public places, burglary, breaking and entry and other social vices. Criminality is now the most reliable means to an end, as education gradually slides to the background. The orientation for children in most communities in Africa's most populous nation revolves around crime, deviant behavior, and indiscipline. The only visible explanation for the disturbing trend is that illiteracy has almost succeeded in eroding all that h...

Stop treating workers as slaves—Federal Workers to FG

Image
The Federal Workers Forum (FWF) has appealed to the federal government to discontinue the treatment of workers as slaves. This appeal was made by the FWF National Coordinator, Comrade Andrew Emelieze, in a chat with Solomon2day. ''We urge the federal government to stop treating workers like slaves; we are citizens. The new national minimum wage has led to the financial embarrassment of federal workers; our government must rethink her attitude towards the Nigerian workers.  Most unfortunately, our government is still owing us five months wage award arrears earlier promised to cushion the effects of petrol subsidy removal, and labor is not doing anything; this is indeed very shameful. The government is also owing poorly paid workers lots of arrears of various allowances. In the crucial sectors of health and education, the workers have continued to plead for their legitimate dues, all to no avail. ''Federal workers also posit that the entire labor movement and the left ha...
