Most of those in the political class have never protected the interests of Nigerian workers. Every worker must take this into consideration when deciding in the 2023 General Elections. Vote Wisely.

The Complicity of Those-in-Charge

Image
In the last three years, various meetings held between Those-in-Authority and individuals who insist that they have been shortchanged in the political and electoral process in a number of states. These meetings have only successfully exposed the self-centered and selfish mindset of Those-in-Authority. The decision not to honor the agreements and abide by decisions taken jointly has dimmed the prospects of an unspecified number of political office holders to cling on to power in 2023 and beyond. Indeed, the realization that their choices for political offices are not fit and proper persons to be entrusted with such offices took a long time to manifest. The illiterate population in several communities is a significant part of the problem. Seasoned politicians opine that Those-in-Authority presently had from the onset prepared a different agenda which has resulted in the bad shape of governance in the affected states. It is a known fact that the POLICE are constitutionally authorized to...

Oyo ASCSN Resolve to elect Charismatic and Visionary Leadership

Image
Concerned members of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria(ASCSN)(Federal) Oyo state chapter have resolved to collectively work for the emergence of a charismatic leader that is driven by passion. This resolution was reached at a congress held on Monday at the Federal Secretariat, Ikolaba, Ibadan, Nigeria. The concerned members expressed disappointment over the stagnant state of affairs of the union in the state, blaming it on the docile and self-centered personalities who constitute the executive. ''We have resolved to work for the election of charismatic and visonray executives who are driven by passion. In the space of just four years, the union is dead in Oyo state. This is sad. The executives are docile. We are ready to join hands together to reverse this ugly trend. The outgoing executives have betrayed our common cause. Nothing has happened that has made workers proud of the union in the last four years. We shall look elsewhere for people w...

INEC-Overcoming the Tests of Integrity Credibility and Transparency

Image
The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has long before the present challenges, established its Information Technology Department(ICT) for the efficient and uncompromising deployment of Information Technology tools in the electoral process. In addition, the computerization of the voters' register has been accomplished, while the transmission of election results by VSAT, and HF Radio and posted results on the Commission's website as the vote counts to be recorded on the field, has equally been achieved. However, the compostion of this constitutionally important organization ought to include socially mature and distinguished indivudauls who have trakc records of meritorious service in the public or private sector. But, sadly, this may not be the case presently. Furthermore, employees of the INEC are supposed to be of sound mind and ought to possess the mental balance to function effectively in the organization. Of worry is that thier conduct in the 2019 General ...

2023 General Elections-The Arms and Ammunition Question

Governments in Sub-Saharan Africa are yet to come out with convincing strategies on how to control international transfers of conventional arms. Indeed, all countries, Nigeria inclusive, in West Africa, participate in the conventional arms trade and are to be held responsible for the result of this trade, widespread death, injuries, and human rights abuses. Certain political office holders at all levels of government in Nigeria, have tacitly influenced arms transfers that have been used for several heinous and grievous crimes. Armed conflict, displacement of people, organized crime, and terrorism festered for so long because of the hidden agenda of Those-in-Authority. They have deliberately allowed the free flow of weapons of mass destruction to get out of control. This has in the process caused pain, suffering, and death in different parts of the country. At the center and several states of the country, Non-State actors having been empowered financially are having a field day. As ...

Chasing Shadows

Image
Today, a new breed of political office holders have emerged. They are scramblers for notice, office and boot lickers exhibiting a convoluted understanding of their obligations to the constitution and the state. Even though it is obvious that they are fats losing grip of political power, their open-hear ted gesture of generosity targeted at deceiving and manipulating the gullible and unsuspecting at will, has got to a desperate stage. Their spirit of nepotism and favoritism has been to the detriment of the collective good. Nigerians insist that the Government at all levels are insincere and dishonest. They also argue that Those-in-Authority are busy chasing shadows when the real challenges are visible for everyone to see.  Those-in-Authority have made sure that all relevant officials-appointed and elected- toe their line of reasoning through arm-twisting tactics. Their secret agenda has been the catalyst for corruption, kidnappings, killings, ritual killings, armed robberies and other ...

The Learning Process

Image
Education revolves around persons, society, things and ideas. It is majorly concerned with the individual in his or her social, physical and spiritual environment. In teaching and learning, the above mentioned play significant roles in the molding of a person's character. The mindset of those who take up the responsibility of teaching goes a long way in shaping the education of learners. In addition, the quality and direction of the work of those who are involved in teaching is hinged on their spiritual and moral environment. Sadly, nobody knows how the present crop of teachers were recruited into government service in a number of states. It is not possible to brainwash the entire population. Perhaps. Threats to kill and other uncouth words is now common among young and old Nigerians, who express this evil intentions in their native languages. This is very strange, as ritual killings continue unabated in different parts of the country. This development has to do with the mindse...
