Underage Cultists take over Scout Camp market Ibadan

  Young cultists aged between 9 and 16 years have for long converted the Scout Camp Neighborhood, market, Ibadan, Nigeria to a place of refuge. The under-aged cultists, comprising primary, secondary school students and drop-outs,  engage in  trailing and providing information on potential victims, pick-pocketing at public places, burglary in residential areas among other crimes. The young criminals retreat to the market as a place of safety, whenever they commit crime, just as they make use of illicit substances within the precincts of the market. Sadly, owners of  shops and open stalls at the market give moral and financial support to the young criminals, even though the state owned security network has an office in the market. It is however, disturbing that traders and residents carry on as if all is well, while these criminals continue to commit various crimes with impunity.

2023 General Elections-The Arms and Ammunition Question

Governments in Sub-Saharan Africa are yet to come out with convincing strategies on how to control international transfers of conventional arms. Indeed, all countries, Nigeria inclusive, in West Africa, participate in the conventional arms trade and are to be held responsible for the result of this trade, widespread death, injuries, and human rights abuses. Certain political office holders at all levels of government in Nigeria, have tacitly influenced arms transfers that have been used for several heinous and grievous crimes. Armed conflict, displacement of people, organized crime, and terrorism festered for so long because of the hidden agenda of Those-in-Authority. They have deliberately allowed the free flow of weapons of mass destruction to get out of control. This has in the process caused pain, suffering, and death in different parts of the country. At the center and several states of the country, Non-State actors having been empowered financially are having a field day. As the 2023 General Elections gradually set in, the government at all levels ought to tighten the noose on access to illegal arms and ammunition as a step towards ensuring peace, safety, security, and sustainable development.

Lawmakers in both chambers of the National Assembly and the State Houses of Assembly have long ceased to represent the electorate in Nigeria. This assertion was made by the convener of the Federal Workers Forum, Comrade Andrew Emelieze. Oyo Government not taking our welfare seriously-Health Workers

  Some health workers in Oyo state have expressed reservations over the continued delay of the state government to meet their demands. The health workers, who are members of the Nigeria Union of Allied Health Professionals(NUAHP), Hospital Management Board unit, lamented that the state government ''is not taking our welfare seriously.'' ''The state government has continued to treat health workers on its payroll with levity. We are not happy about this, the government should urgently address our demands, they stated. However, the chairman of the unit, Comrade Olanrewaju Ajani disclosed that of all the demands of the health workers, the state government had only reviewed the hazard allowance.
