We are Heavily taxed by the government-Federal workers

Image
Workers in Nigeria have raised alarm over the unfair taxation of their monthly salaries by the federal and state governments. The workers under the aegis of the Federal Workers Forum (FWF) raised this alarm in a letter titled PROTEST AGAINST EXPLOITATION OF WORKERS BY THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT, THE COMPROMISE OF LABOR UNIONS, AND NOTIFICATIONS FOR INDEFINITE PROTEST FROM 22ND APRIL 2025 BY FEDERAL WORKERS, addressed to the International Labour Organization (ILO) and signed by the National Coordinator (FWF), Comrade Andrew Emelieze, and Secretary General, Comrade Itoro Obong. "Federal workers" salaries and ALLOWANCES are equally heavily taxed, and no tax rebate or certificate is issued to the workers at the end of the year. Despite the poor national minimum wage, the federal government in Nigeria has continued to owe federal workers lots of arrears of allowances, promotion arrears, hazard allowances, duty tour allowance (DTA), etc. This we have seen leading to agitations amon...

Aleshinloye Market Fire-Government should equip fire service to function optimally-Chief Obi

Image
The Onyendu Ndigbo of Ibadan and Oyo State, High Chief Alloy Obi, has called on the government to adequately equip the fire service to function effectively.  In the early hours of Wednesday, a fire gutted a section of the Aleshinloye market in Ibadan, Nigeria. 'It is regrettable that the fire incident occurred in this period of economic hardships. The government should equip the fire service to function optimally; it takes a long time for the fire service to respond to distress calls. The traders should not lose hope but keep on making efforts to make their lives better. I pray that the almighty God will console the traders; some borrowed money, some collected goods on credit, and this happened; it is unfortunate. The government should also assist the traders in bouncing back.'' It was reported that the fire service near the market has not been functional for the past 12 years. On state creation, Chief Obi advised the government to consider the creation of one additional st...

Elijah the Prophet of God

Image
The 12 tribes of Israel settled in the land of Canaan. In perilous times, judges led the people; Moses was the greatest of the leaders. However, several years later, the people of Israel began agitating for the coronation of kings. Although a certain number of their kings were men of integrity, others were corrupt and diabolic. Despite this, God continued to protect and guide His people. God chose prophets to reveal happenings to His people and teach them all they need to know about Him. Elijah was a prophet who shaped the lives and activities of the people through his prophecies and encounters. The Local Scene The criminals who maim and kill innocent citizens across the Federal Republic of Nigeria are all creations of Those-in-Charge. The helplessness and lack of political will to bring the disturbing situation under control is one of the major indicators of covert consent; this is in addition to the brazen and bold mindset of the non-state actors, which points to the full backing ...

They expressed their dissatisfaction in a chat with Solomon2day. The election comes up on Wednesday, 12 March, 2025. ''We do not have confidence in the electoral method of election. We are not comfortable with the electoral college method of elections; delegates who were handpicked by non-NASU members, including heads of departments, form the bulk of the departmental representatives. The elections do not reflect the popular wish of members. We ought to have been allowed to choose our leaders by the direct method, they lamented. In a related development, the branch chairman f the union, Comrade Kehinde Abiona has faulted in disqualification to re-contest he rescheduled branch elections. ''There was a...

Fellowship with God

Image
Believers who sustain a very close fellowship with God have all it takes to neutralize the most oppressive darkness and adverse situations. The Local Scene Education ministries in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory ought to make public the disturbing standard of education. The present situation is hopeless, as pupils and students exhibit traits that are very strange in educational institutions. The attitude of those in charge is that of helplessness, as learning takes the back seat across Nigeria. Sharp practices have overwhelmed most educational institutions, despite the huge investment in the education sector. The noticeable oddity everywhere is the sight of criminals in school uniforms, while society carries on as if this is now the norm. Read God's Word(All correspondence to solomon1day@gmail.com)

The Lose of a Firm Grip

Image
Those in charge are now face to face with the reality of happenings in different parts of the country, which has so far contradicted their laid-out plans. This is the major reason that nature can never be manipulated by humanity. Indeed, there are unpredictable times ahead, as most of those responsible for good governance have lost a firm grip on the disturbing situation. The make-believe position is no longer tenable, as events continue to unfold on a daily basis. Justice, fairness and equality all contribute to economic development , in a sane society. Injustice to one, is injustice to all. Read God's Word All Correspondence to solomon1day@gmail.com
