Workers in Nigeria have raised alarm over the unfair taxation of their monthly salaries by the federal and state governments. The workers under the aegis of the Federal Workers Forum (FWF) raised this alarm in a letter titled PROTEST AGAINST EXPLOITATION OF WORKERS BY THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT, THE COMPROMISE OF LABOR UNIONS, AND NOTIFICATIONS FOR INDEFINITE PROTEST FROM 22ND APRIL 2025 BY FEDERAL WORKERS, addressed to the International Labour Organization (ILO) and signed by the National Coordinator (FWF), Comrade Andrew Emelieze, and Secretary General, Comrade Itoro Obong. "Federal workers" salaries and ALLOWANCES are equally heavily taxed, and no tax rebate or certificate is issued to the workers at the end of the year. Members of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) are patiently waiting for the end to the prolonged crisis in the association's leadership ranks. The crisis that has persisted for so long revolves around self-interest and greed. Indeed, members and others from different unions in Nigeria look up to the National Industrial Court (NIC) to put the crisis to a permanent end. The convener of the Federal Workers Forum (FWF) and the All Workers Convergence (AWC), Comrade Andrew Emeleze, urges workers in the country to be peaceful in their conduct. Turn a new leaf-Nigerian Teachers to Pupils and Students

Pupils and students in Nigeria have been called upon to turn a new leaf as public primary and secondary schools resume for the second term in Nigeria. This call was made on Tuesday by the chairman of the Oyo state wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers(NUT), Comrade Raji Oladimeji. ''When schools resume for a new term from time immemorial, the turn out of pupils and students has always been very low because they want to avoid menial tasks that herald the new term-cutting of overgrown weeds, general cleaning-toilets, staff room, desks and benches and so on. For some days, the turn-out is not always impressive, in the new term they should turn a new leaf.'' Comrade Oladimeji counseled. The NUT chairman maintained that the recruitment of suitable and qualified teachers in certain states was timely, adding, ''Now the distribution of newly recruited teachers has commenced.''

Many Pharisees were good and upright people, who Jesus Christ counted among his friends. But it was those who misused religion who angered him so much, particularly when they excused unjust actions and unfair attitudes with pious platitudes. People might be scrupulous about small details of religious observance, giving to the temple a tenth of all their produce, even to the smallest herbs. But if they were unscrupulous in their treatment of others, Jesus condemned them in no uncertain terms. Which sins do religious people tend to condemn most readily today? How much prominence do we give to justice, humility, and reverence as the most important values? How often do we speak out against hypocrisy, greed and self-indulgence ?

Prosperity for selfish Interests

Presently, many parents are unable to take good care of their children in different parts of Nigeria. Prostitution,homosexuality, sodomy pedohphilia, cultism, ritual killngs child and women trafficking, hard drug usage are among the several social maladies plaguing society. Sadly, a number of those in religion have not helped matters by focusing mainly on prosperity for selfish interests. Anointing and blessings for questionable characters mouth-watering fees now dominate the space, just as doctrines are twisted to suit their diabolic design. Places of worship have now become destinations for all manners of people who ordinarily have no business there. Sadly, the compilicity of the 'revered' have only worsened the situation. The words of the holy book are now misinterpreted to suit satanic motives and agenda.

Oyo Government not taking our welfare seriously-Health Workers

  Some health workers in Oyo state have expressed reservations over the continued delay of the state government to meet their demands. The health workers, who are members of the Nigeria Union of Allied Health Professionals(NUAHP), Hospital Management Board unit, lamented that the state government ''is not taking our welfare seriously.'' ''The state government has continued to treat health workers on its payroll with levity. We are not happy about this, the government should urgently address our demands, they stated. However, the chairman of the unit, Comrade Olanrewaju Ajani disclosed that of all the demands of the health workers, the state government had only reviewed the hazard allowance.
