Our God enriches us with His grace

Image
Our God enriches us with His grace, demands some work from us, and ensures that no harm befalls us as His willing subjects. Our God of all time, all places, and all people moves ahead of tradition and popular expectations. Read Isaiah 45:1-7 The Local Scene- Muhammadu Marwa Maitatsine was from Jappai village in Northern Cameroon. Maitatsine, a Mufu by tribe, became a Muslim in 1940. The tradition of the ethnic group revolved around human sacrifice and superstition. Maitatsine's followers, then, were young people, initiated into the group through the consumption of hypnotized concoctions. This brought in its wake violent crimes, an aberration to all right-thinking mortals. Sadly, the disturbing trend and source of inspiration of these criminals emanate from the heavy reliance of the leadership at the different levels of government on outlawed substances, in desperate attempts to hold on to political power. Very disturbing.

''For the nation to produce the best brains, it is important for preference to be given to the most qualified. The Nigeria...

Nigerians are not feeling the Developmental impact of Taxes-Comrade Emelieze

Image
Millions of Nigerians are not feeling the impact of the multiple taxes collected by the government at all levels. Take an interest in your Health and Wellness This assertion was made  by a former chairman of the Oyo state council of the Trade Union Congress(TUC), Comrade Andrew Emelieze. ''It is quite unfortunate that millions of Nigerians who pay income  and various other taxes are not feeling the developmental impact of these taxes. Majority of those who pay taxes are not given tax certificates and there is no tax rebate. It is as if taxation is all about the extortion of Nigerians. The benefits of the taxes government collects are not visible,'' Comrade Emelieze stated. In his view, the chairman of the Non-Academic Staff Union and Associated Institutions(NASU) University College Hospital(UCH) Ibadan branch, Comrade Kehinde Abiona  agrees that the impact of the taxes collected are not felt by workers saying,''the taxes workers pay must count, it is s...

The Signposts that dot the Landscape

Image
Corruption, lawlessness, indiscipline, criminality and evil are among the several signposts that dot the landscape presently. Take an interest in your Health and Wellness Indeed, the above mentioned may be attributed to the absence of accountability, probity, transparency and above all, an unblemished track record of achievements. Without doubt, Nigeria is already a laughing stock in the comity of decent nations.

Lawyer engages thugs to serve letter in Ibadan

Image
In these challenging times, lawlessness and criminality continue to linger as those in charge pretend not to be aware. Federal workers lament delays in salary payments

Image
Take an interest in your Health and Wellnesss  Workers in Federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies(MDA) have expressed reservations over the delay in the payment of their monthly salaries. The workers lamented that they had received just a month's wage award of N35,000. ''We received last month's salaries in the second week. Up till this moment, most workers in the MDAs are yet to receive their October salaries. It is disturbing considering the very high cost of living. We are worried and we feel that the government is torturing us. In addition, we have only received the September wage award of N35,000, and October is yet to be paid,'' the workers lamented.
