We are Heavily taxed by the government-Federal workers

Image
Workers in Nigeria have raised alarm over the unfair taxation of their monthly salaries by the federal and state governments. The workers under the aegis of the Federal Workers Forum (FWF) raised this alarm in a letter titled PROTEST AGAINST EXPLOITATION OF WORKERS BY THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT, THE COMPROMISE OF LABOR UNIONS, AND NOTIFICATIONS FOR INDEFINITE PROTEST FROM 22ND APRIL 2025 BY FEDERAL WORKERS, addressed to the International Labour Organization (ILO) and signed by the National Coordinator (FWF), Comrade Andrew Emelieze, and Secretary General, Comrade Itoro Obong. "Federal workers" salaries and ALLOWANCES are equally heavily taxed, and no tax rebate or certificate is issued to the workers at the end of the year. Despite the poor national minimum wage, the federal government in Nigeria has continued to owe federal workers lots of arrears of allowances, promotion arrears, hazard allowances, duty tour allowance (DTA), etc. This we have seen leading to agitations amon...

Fear God in all you do-Oyo chairman Association of Non-Indigenes Heads to Political Office Holders

Image
The Ezendigbo of Ibadan and Oyo state, Eze(Dr.) Alex Anozie, has admonished newly inaugurated political office holders to administer and oversee the affairs of those that elected them with the fear of God. Eze(Dr.) Anozie, who is also the chairman of the state chapter of the Association of Non-Indigenes Heads, gave this admonition on Monday minutes after the inauguration of the political office holders across Nigeria. ''Let them have the fear of God in everything they do. My good will message to all political office holders from top to bottom is for them to work for a truly united Nigeria where truth, justice, equity, fairness and peace reign supreme. Nigerians should love one another, not minding their ethnic and religious differences. This is the foundation. If we work hard, the sky is our limit. In another development, Eze(Dr.) Anozie on behalf of the Igbos and Non-Indigenes in Oyo state has congratulated the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II on ...

The Vicious Circle of Poverty

Image
Infrastructure is a necessity for development but may not be a condition for advancement. Skilled labor, moral and social outlook, political situation and historical narratives all play critical roles in economic development. Indeed, the store of technical knowledge is not at par with economic resources available at a given point in time, while corruption remains a major impediment to development. Various conditions determine the inducement to invest, but in most cases, developing countries rely on a make-believe and cosmetic approach. Unfortunately, this has not been successful. The potential to develop is guided by the ability and willingness to save. Sadly, the capacity to save in developing countries is low due to low real income, which in turn is as a result of low productivity and the visible absence of the enablers of development. Some countries remain in the vicious circle of poverty not because of the lack of natural resources and a conducive environment, but because of c...

Be Good

Image
Avoid being led astray to do evil, but always thread the path of good deeds and good will be with you at all times. 1Thessalonians 5 : 12-23 12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves. 14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. 15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. 16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 19 Quench not the Spirit. 20 Despise not prophesyings. 21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit an...

Disruption of Fraud

Image
WASHINGTON – The Department of Justice, FBI, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and other federal law enforcement agencies announced today the completion of a three-month campaign that disrupted networks used by foreign fraudsters to obtain fraud proceeds. Multiple law enforcement actions addressed conduct by individuals sometimes referred to as “money mules,” who have been providing critical services to fraudsters by receiving money from fraud victims and forwarding the fraud proceeds to the perpetrators (many of whom are based overseas). Some individuals knew they were facilitating fraud. Others first interacted with fraudsters as victims and may have been unaware that their activity furthered criminal activity. Over approximately the last three months, law enforcement took over 4,000 actions against individuals responsible for facilitating a range of fraud schemes. These schemes included those that targeted consumers, such as lottery fraud and romance scams, as well as those that targ...

Bad Leadership-Nigeria is not an Exception-Eze(Dr.) Anozie

Image
Nigeria is not an exception when it comes top bad leadership. This assertion was made by the Ezendigbo of Ibadan and Oyo state, Eze(Dr.)Alex Anozie. ''There is nothing like that. I am only saying that truth and justice should always prevail. As regards bad leadership, Nigeria is not an exception. I am talking about the whole world. Bad leadership is causing crises all over the world. I am only showing sympathy for justice, equity and fairness and selfless leadership and leadership by example. I have been Ezendigbo for 26 years, nobody is paying for my services. There is peace in my domain. So, what I am saying is about the whole world at large and Nigeria is part of the world. Everybody knows the situation in Nigeria. But I must congratulate this government for putting machinery in motion for the completion of the second Niger Bridge. I was one of the people that first called for the construction of the second Niger Bridge and I am happy that we have seen the completion of t...

Seeking Foreign Direct Investment

Image
b>Lawlessness is now the way of life in Nigeria, due to the lingering poverty and hunger in the land. A review of the economy and security architecture will unravel the untold story, only if a transparent probe is conducted in the days to come. A number of the crises in the last eight years have generated revenue for a few pockets, with millions of Nigerians always contending with the sufferings and hardships during such crises. Indeed, the interests of Nigerians have been undermined or destabilized based on ethnic, religious and gender considerations. Sadly, the political leaders in the states, have failed to convincingly ensure a conducive environment, but are in the nick of time, seeking direct investment. Investors can only develop confidence in the economy when there is regular electricity supply, free flow of potable water, good and motorable roads, security of lives and property, skilled and trained power and favorable incentives for startups.

The Lesson of Gratitude

Image
Let us cultivate the habit of goiving thanks to God in every situation. Learning the lesson of gratitude reduces the negative effects of our expriences in all situation. 2 Corinthians 12 : 1-10 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. 6 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. 7 And lest I ...
