Strive to Please the Lord

Image
Let us strive to pleae the Lord and He will condition us to control our physical desires which are sin-inclined. Mark 15 : 22-39 22 And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull. 23 And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not. 24 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take. 25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. 26 And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS. 27 And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. 28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. 29 And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, 30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross. 31 Likewise also the chief priests mocking said amon...

God will not Abandon Us

Image
When people abandon us at times of need, God will never abandon us. 2Kings : 1-7 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. 2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil. 3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. 4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. 5 So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out. 6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me y...

Corruption-$35 Million Oil Money recovered from Nigeria

Image
Justice Department Recovers Over $53M in Profits Obtained from Corruption in the Nigerian Oil Industry The Justice Department announced today the final resolution of two civil cases seeking the forfeiture of various luxury assets that were the proceeds of foreign corruption offenses and were laundered in and through the United States. With the conclusion of the cases, the department has recovered roughly $53.1 million in cash – constituting the net liquidated value of the defendant’s assets – plus a promissory note with a principal value of $16 million. According to court documents, from 2011 to 2015, Nigerian businessmen Kolawole Akanni Aluko and Olajide Omokore conspired with others to pay bribes to Nigeria’s former Minister for Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, who oversaw Nigeria’s state-owned oil company. In return, Alison-Madueke used her influence to steer lucrative oil contracts to companies owned by Aluko and Omokore. The proceeds of those illicitly awarded contr...

Watch your Utterances-Eze(Dr.) Anozie to Ethnic Groups

Image
Leaders of ethnic groups in Nigeria have been called upon to warn their members to desist from making unguarded statements. This call was made by the Ezendigbo of Ibadan and Oyo state, who is also the chairman of the A\ssociation of Non-Indigienes Traditional Heads in the state, Eze(Dr.) Alex Anozie in a Facebook post on his timeline. ''All ethnic groups in Nigeria should talk to and caution their careless talkers in the interest of our country, Nigeria.'' Advice to Town Unions and Associations My advice to members of town unions in Oyo state and other places is that they should shine their eyes and make sure they attend meetings regularly and be carried along with what is going on in their meetings. They should not just leave everything to the leadership alone, because there are situations, wherein, in some town union meetings/association meetings, some, not all, of them, their leadership has been bought over by some people who may not be willing to do the right thing...

The Desperate Rush

Image
On Monday, 20 July 2001, at a remembrance lecture and book lunch in honor of the late Lt. Col. Francis Adekunle Fajuyi in Ibadan, Nigeria, Major General Robert Adeyinka Adebayo(RTD) of blessed memory has summarized the situation in Nigeria in the following words: ''In our country, the system has produced despots that foist totalitarianism regimes on us and allows mediocrity to triumph over merit, hence our continued backwardness as a nation.'' Those who possess the political power today must have started taking stock of the legacies they are about to leave behind, particularly the huge debt burden at the center and the states.  Another legacy to be left behind are thousands of lives that have been lost for economic and security reasons, in addition to those who remain unaccounted for under this administration.  The leaders in their second and final lap are anxious to throw in the towel, while the ones still having a term to go are working vigorously to cover their tra...

Disrupted Elections-UCH NASU members call for Probe

Image
Members of the Non-Academic Staff and Related Institutions(NASU) University College Hospital(UCH) branch, Ibadan, Nigeria have appealed to the hospital's management to identify and sanction those responsible for the disruption of the union's election to usher in new executives on 15 March, 2023. Trouble started when the electoral committee, which included the NASU state chairman, Comrade Adepeju announced the disqualification of one of the contestants, Comrade Adekunle Adegboye, for belonging to two different trade unions.committee This prompted angry members to disrupt the elections, while the rear windscreen of Comrade Adepeju's vehicle was shattered in the process of leaving the sports field venue of the elections. However, a section of the membership of the union have accused Comrade Kehinde Abiona-led executives of incompetence and corruption. They insisted that as a result of the incompetence of the executives, an unspecified number of members were dismissed, while ...

RAMADHAN DIET - DAY 1 by Prof. Sabitu Olagoke

Image
The Ramadhan fasting exercise, is a divine construct given by God to mankind as the fourth pillar of Islam, for the purpose of spiritual rejuvenation to improve the state of piety. This is to help the animal called Man to become reformed, decent, modest and disciplined enough to be able to have an easy ride in his pursuit of social desires. The signs of Lent for the Christians and the arrival of Saomu Ramadhan must be seen as a blessing to us in Nigeria to seek Divine Intervention for Government Transition and for our next political dispensation to be fruitful and beneficial to all of us in Nigeria as a nation. Prof. S. A. Olagoke JP FNSE, FNATE, FNIM, FAES Ajagun Esin of Oyo State Founder, Spiritual Head and Grand Imam Shafaudeen In Islam Worldwide.

Be Prayerful-Cleric to Oyo Gov

Image
Running for and winning an office as a governor is an accomplishment to be proud of. More importantly, Nigeria’s democratic political sphere, for the first time in history, gave the mandate to the people, through BVAS and INEC Servers, to perfect our voting exercise to have more credible or so reliable results to produce credible leaders in the government of the next political dispensation. However, the hackers' attempt was disturbing, while vote buying was at its worst practice despite the Naira redesign and cash crunch for the Nigerians making the winners, to look like beneficiaries of the highest syndrome. However, we need to congratulate the winners for peace to reign and the transition to be smooth for the emerging leaders to be able to perform in a conducive and peaceful environment. After all, those who feel cheated or unsatisfied with the results have the basic alternative to seeking redress in a court of law. For our Governor in Oyo State, I congratulate Engr. Seyi...

Make Peace and Rehabilitation of inland Roads Your Priority-Oyo Chairman Non-indigenes Traditional Heads to Gov

Image
Non-Indigenes in Ibadan and Oyo state have appealed to THE re-elected Governor of the state to vigorously sustain the prevailing peace and tranquility in the state in his second term in office. This appeal was made on behalf of the Non-indigenes by the Eze ndigbo of Ibadan and Oyo state, Eze(Dr.) Alex Anozie, who doubles as the chairman of the Association of Non-indigenes Traditional Heads in the state in their congratulatory message. Eze(Dr.) Anozie also called on the state Governor to ensure the speedy rehabilitation of several bad roads in the state capital and across the state. ''I am saying a very big congratulation to our young, amiable and dynamic Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde. I am saying this on behalf of myself, all Ndibgo and Non-Indigenes Traditional Heads in Oyo state, of which I am the chairman . We are happy because God has answered our prayers and blessed him, the Governor, with the opportunity to serve a second term. We wish him all the best and we pray to God...

The Crime against Nigerians

Image
The leaders have woefully failed to ensure participatory governance, which is facilitates the protection of the interests of Nigerians. From the center to the states, self-centered interests are the preference, since a sizable number of these leaders attained political offices through under-the-table means. Stagnation is the order of the day for most Nigerians, while suppression, manipulation and enforcement have become indispensable tools in the hands of Those-in-Authority. Without doubt, nearly all the democratic institutions have been deformed and rendered prostate, even as a criminal conspiracy against Nigerians has eventually been legitimized. King Herod as a Role Model Insensitivity, heartlessness, lack of accountability and deceit are now the hallmarks of those who claim to have been democratically elected. Nigerians now look up to God for deliverance from the dark powers that have constituted themselves into the Biblical King Herod. Their role model. Perhaps.

God is always with Nigerians-Cleric

Image
God has always been with Nigerians, regardless of the pains, anguish, sorrows and hardships. This assertion was made by Pastor Opeyemi Ajayi. ''Nigerians should not despair or lose hope. We are not alone. God has always been with us in our times of sorrow, pain, anguish and hardships. Go remains our protector and fortress. There is light at the end of the tunnel,'' Pastor Ajayi stated. In another development, a university Don has decribed the attitude of Nigerians towards change as unencouraging. According to Prof. Benjamin Ehige of the Department of Psychology, University of Ibadan, this is despite the fact that the concept of change is attractive. Prof. Ehige made this known on Thursday at a business summit organized by the Proactive Shareholders Association of Nigeria(PROSAN), Ibadan, Nigeria. ''The concept of change looks attractive, but our attitude to change is not encouraging. People find it difficult to a change in behavior. We must think of a change ...

We cannot Turn down Oyo Gov's Invitation-Chairman Association of Traditional Heads of Non-Indigenes

Image
Controversy continues to trail meetings the Oyo state Governor has with various interest groups in the state. In his reaction, the Eze Ndigbo of Ibadan and Oyo state, who is also the chairman of the Association of Traditional Heads of Non-Indigenes in the state, Eze(Dr.) Alex Anozie opines that there is no way members of the association will ignore the state Governor, who invited them for a meeting. Excerpts: Mixed reactions have trailed your association's meeting with the Oyo state Governor what is your position? As the Governor of the state, he invited the heads of the ethnic groups for a meeting. We had no option but to attend the meeting. There is just no way we can ignore the Governor or disrespect him; we must honor him as the Governor of the state where we reside. If we do otherwise, that means we are not law abiding because we should be working together as partners in progress, as the leaders of the ethnic groups in the state. We didn't know why he invited us and ...

Never Envy the Wicked

Image
We must never envy the ways of the wicked because their days are numbered. Psalm 37 : 1-20 1 A Psalm of David.) Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. 3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. 4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. 6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. 7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. 9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. 1...

The Last Lap

Image
Events have since proven that the votes of Nigerians did not count in the just concluded Presidential and national assembly elections. Interestingly, Those-in-Authority have continued to vigorously rationalize the failed elections. The present reality is that Nigerians no longer have the freedom to choose their leaders and the right to identify alternatives of choice. Since the electoral umpire is comfortable taking directives from its paymasters, rather than asserting its independence, Nigerians insist that the elections were a good reflection of organized fraud. Indeed, as the days go by, towards May 29th, the definition of governance for Those-in-Authority, which is access to sudden wealth and equitable rewards system for all who are involved, gradually fades into oblivion. Omnious Times Ahead The uncomfortable silence of Those-in-Authority, days after the apex court delivered a people-friendly judgment on the Naira Re-design policy, has exposed the ominous times ahead.

In her opening remarks, the chairperson of the organizing committee, Miss Winifred Agogo stressed that the elections were very important to NASU members, adding''we must elect executives who are reliable, transparent and with foresight, who will enable all staff to reach the peak of their careers regardless of ethnicity, tribe and religion.'' Miss Agogo also noted that the mianfesto was the first of its kind in the history of the branch and UCH in general. The Need for the Urgent Funding of Education in Nigeria by Dr. Francis Amenaghawon

Image
The funding of education is a major challenge in Nigeria. Sadly, education funding has been reduced drastically over the years. In addition, the poor remuneration of teaching staff at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels has also contributed to the deterioration of education. Furthermore, the attitude of parents and guardians towards their children and wards' education is nothing to write home about, including the low quality of training teaching staff pass through have both contributed to the worrisome state of education in the country. The quest for wealth is now the focus of parents and guardians at the detriment of the future of their children and wards. All the above mentioned have impacted negatively on the academic performance of pupils and students at all levels of education. It is high time the Federal Government increases the budget funding for education to the 26 per cent benchmark recommended by UNESCO. Above all, the government should strengthen institution...

Avoid Evil

Image
Avoid all that is evil so that you will not be consumed by evil. 1Timothy 6 : 1-12 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope; 2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. 3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. 5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. 8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; 9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteou...

A Dubious Loyalty

Image
The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) successfully conducted the Continuous Voters Registration exercise in states and Abuja, but sadly, millions of potential voters were disenfranchised in the Presidential and National Assembly elections. Indeed, the 25th February general elections were anything except free, fair and credible. The rush to collate the results manually and announce the same, confirmed the long suspicions and fears of Nigerians. On the day of the election, the harrowing experience of voters confirmed that the electoral umpire was part of a grand scheme to impose unacceptable candidates on Nigerians. The resentment at the electoral deceit cuts across the six geo-political zones of Nigeria and indeed, such resentment, justice will prevail. It is now crystal clear that the loyalty of the present administration in the country has never been to the nation as a whole, but to a pyramidal sequence of enforcers, under-bosses and influence peddlers among others. Th...

God our Fortress

Image
God our creator knows our thoughts, difficulities and needs. Let us rely on HIM in all situations. 1(To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. 2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. 5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. 7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night sh...
