Save Us from Extortion-Business Owners to Business Owners

Business owners in Ibadan Oyo state, Nigeria have appealed to the state government to rescue them from the unabating extortion by its agents. This appeal was made on behalf of the business owners through their spokesperson, Mr. Paul Ikechukwu Okoli. ''Things are very hard. We are not making sales, there is no money. The officials of Ibadan South West Local Government came to our shop two weeks ago demanding payment of 10,000 Naira for selling beer. For the past two years, they did not show up, we used to pay 1,500 Naira. But suddenly, yesterday they came and forcefully collected 10, 000 Naira after collecting our plates. I and my wife Ogechi, were shocked. The Oyo state government should save us from these local government officials and their agents,'' Mr. Okoli stated.
