Education-Gov Makinde has provided an enabling environment for teachers-Oyo NUT Chairman

  As parents and guardians continue to worry over the disturbing performance of their children and wards in both public and private primary and secondary schools in Oyo state,  in addition to the increasing cases of deviant behavior and illicit drug use, the chairman of the Oyo state council of the Nigeria Union of Teachers(NUT), Comrade Raji Oladimeji opines that the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has provided a conducive environment for teachers to thrive in the state. Excerpts: How would you assess the outgoing 2024/2025 academic session in public and private primary and secondary schools in Oyo state? The Number of Nigerians infected with Haemophilia is Unknown-Prof. of Haemotology

The population of Nigerians infected with Haemophilia is not known. This assertion was made on Monday by a Professor of Haemotlogy and Consultant Haemotologist, University of Benin(UNIBEN) and University of Benin Teaching Hospital(UBTH), Benin, Edo state, Prof. Omolade Awodu at the valedictory lecture for Prof. Wuraola Adebola Sokunbi./ ''The population of Nigerians with haemophilia is not yet known. Haemophilia is not the disease of the white. 93 per cent of Nigerians infected are not diagnosed. That we do not know the number of Nigerians infected with the disease shows that very few men and women are interested in the disease. We have inadequate knowledge. We are still very ignorant of the disease in Nigeria. With 93 per cent of patients undiagnosed in Nigeria, the reality is that many of them will die young. There should be proper diagnosis and management,'' Prof. Awodu stated.

Lawmakers are very far from Nigerians-Comrade Emelieze

Lawmakers in both chambers of the National Assembly and the State Houses of Assembly have long ceased to represent the electorate in Nigeria. This assertion was made by the convener of the Federal Workers Forum, Comrade Andrew Emelieze. Oyo Government not taking our welfare seriously-Health Workers

  Some health workers in Oyo state have expressed reservations over the continued delay of the state government to meet their demands. The health workers, who are members of the Nigeria Union of Allied Health Professionals(NUAHP), Hospital Management Board unit, lamented that the state government ''is not taking our welfare seriously.'' ''The state government has continued to treat health workers on its payroll with levity. We are not happy about this, the government should urgently address our demands, they stated. However, the chairman of the unit, Comrade Olanrewaju Ajani disclosed that of all the demands of the health workers, the state government had only reviewed the hazard allowance.
